  1. Say you have a character who is stuttering. Do you write the dialogue like he's stuttering or do you leave a note and let the actors do their job?

  2. What do you think about an inciting incident on pg 16? Is it too late?

  3. "LOVE" - short I wrote - just won Best Film at Southampton Film Week. Not the Oscars - but still nice cool that the film's out there making its way in the world.

  4. Clocking in at 89 pages, the fastest first draft I've ever done for my first Horror/Thriller. It's not great by any means, but hoorah, it's done. FOR NOW.

  5. Question: Do feature comedy specs sell anymore? I can't remember the last one that sold to a studio. Seems like everything is developed in-house or with attachments. Am I wrong?

  6. I think I'm using the term PRELAP wrong? I'm using it for a VO that starts before that scene begins. Is that correct?

  7. for dialogue-- I'm trying to think of a situation where the training is worse/more grueling than the actual thing that's being trained for. Any ideas?

  8. Wow, anyone else find "Now You See Me" more improbable than not? Disappointing.

  9. If I had a dollar for every time I bought a book instead of writing... I'd be able to buy a lot more books

  10. Did anyone else see Salinger?

  12. For the sake of discussion, how would you even protect yourself against something like this? http://www.thewrap.com/elysium-director-neill-blomkamp-sony-producers-sued-copyright-infringement/

  13. Struggling through first few episodes of Dexter season 7 -- any reason to keep watching? Totally disappointed thus far.

  16. Guys and Gals...I need some awesome horror scripts please. I just had a crazy meeting with producers who want to produce a horror film, but refuse to watch them.

  17. As someone who regularly questions his sanity and abilities in this uncertain and often agonizing endeavor, I'd like to extend a big, blanket loving thanks to all you TBers who have shared your work here. With so many stories around us, just sheer numbers, it's easy to forget that every screenplay is in some ways evidence of a battle. Proof its author tangled with the abyss, and emerged to write another day. Presenting it to the world then takes a whole other kind of courage.

  18. In preparation for the final episode, I rewatched the Breaking Bad pilot. It's amazing how well written that show is from the get-go. THAT is how a pilot is supposed to be written.

  19. Great ending. Much better than "cut to black..."

  20. James Cameron isn't lying when he says that Gravity is the best space film ever made. Simple plot, lean and effective - nice use of theme, music's intense and it's a nail biter. But the visuals, my god. Several members of the audience who partook of herb were freaking out. I can't imagine what they saw but what I saw was beautiful.

  21. Script I worked on all summer and turned into Universal? Turns out a title with a "the" in front of it sold last month for a tv series. I think mine is still different enough...:/

  22. Adapt away. Daily Mail headline - Teenage exorcists who say Harry Potter has corrupted the world head to Britain armed with Bibles and Holy Water to tackle hotbed of occult activity

  23. Fun stuff - short I wrote is playing at the Bootleg Film Festival in NYC on 9/17. Nice little write up about it: http://www.bootlegfilmfestival.com/2013/08/bootleg-in-focus-love.html
