Shadow 19 was dopeeee. Didn't read Pawn yet. Will read that and Uprising for sure next. Reading Indiana Jones/City of Gods -- FUCKING EPIC! Darabont is my new idol!

EMPIRE OF THE WOLF by John Pile is great, too. Coincidentally, Pile just went out with another spec today.

@ Blue: C'MON MAN! That was single handily the dumbest scene in the movie. The idea - awesome. Execution, horrid. 1st thing it reminded me of "Big Trouble in Little China" when the masters battle with 'Laser Warriors' using their pinky's. And the ending...REALLY Blue. Really???

    4. Nic.Lishko

      Nic.Lishko

Agree with TB Blue :D. Dude I went in only to see The Dark Knight Rises trailer and was expecting nothing at all. Thus, it rocked :D

  3. So..."Super 8" + 6 story IMAX screen + packed crowd = good movie experience... PS the movie during the credits was hilarious

Great movie. I went to school five minutes from where they filmed, but I had long since graduated when production started.

Didn't anyone see "Bronson"? Albeit his new one "Warrior" is suspect, "Bronson" is like "Clockwork Orange" for thugs...

@BoyNo: to quote the late/great ODB "I'm the Osiris of this shit..." And what I'm saying , I saw a flick of Hardy recently and he looks JACKED -- like ripped! Bald head, whole nine. Dude's gonna KILL "Dark Knight Rises"!

  5. Ok...shit got real. Will Smith in title role if "Django Unchained" -- Tarantino is a BEAST. Gonna be unlike ANYTHING in theaters.

@boyno: Will's people can't be that dumb as to not give QT precedence in this case. Besides all the N-bombs dropped at an Invasion of Normandy pace -- there;s NOTHING in this script to deter him from KILLING IT!

With Christophe Waltz, and Samule Jackson (as Stephen i assume) + Bob Richardson as DP + QT's ear for good tunes = #WINNING...BIG TIME.

Shiiiiiit -- i'm gonna read it again just so i can imagine that cast!

But Idris Elba could be dope too...

Just went down to 96 due to QuickFlix's review. While that was bound to happen at some point, a lower RT rating isn't going to stop me from seeing this. Still excited.

  9. Went to a PGA Screening of BEASTS OF THE SOUTHERN WILD. One word: Wow! Brilliantly touching, yet completely unorthodox film -- with great acting from completely untrained civilians. See it next week. Well worth the price of admission. I put my rep on that...

i can't wait to see this...next to The Dark Knight Rises and a few other movies, this is high on my list of films to watch. And, it should come to my town since Pittsburgh does support indie films and we have smaller indie theatres to show it in. :)

Just curious, Prospekt, because my usual complaint re: trailers is that they tell us TOO MUCH of the story. I want the trailer to entice, not spoil. What amount of story are you looking for from a trailer?

Agreed. I mean if you want to show any conceits or special setpieces that drive the story and show the world or characters you've created. I was sitting in a studio exec's office and he was showing me some comic panels for a movie and it didn't add anything - but I saw some panels that had so much heart and action in them yesterday, I was like "wow, that rocks..."

As far as storyboards -- I storyboard EVERYTHING I'm gonna shoot. Have an amazing artist I work with...

  12. Funniest comment EVER re Transformers3 : As a one-eyed writer, I am offended that I do not have a chance to see the film at the midnight advance showings because they are all 3D. There are plenty of other monoculists out there who are as pissed as I am. Maybe I should sue under the Persons With Disabilities Act. I’ve got my eye on you, Mr. Bay.

  13. Grand Piano = worst let down in a while... What a waste of my damn time. And "Red Phoenix" wasted my time today too! F*ck these bootleg specs, I'm reading some George RR Martin and getting my "Game of Thrones" on!

@ BoyNo: Spending Sat/Sun reading the next G.O.T. book, so go watch "Split Second" somewhere and recite the god awful dialogue verbatim :-D

@ Red: The writing in "Grand Piano" is CRISP. Story is telegraphed a MILE AWAY. If u have half a brain u'll figure the movie out 25min in -- suffers from lack of story... I literally had to stop at page 90 and skip to last 5 pages cause I had to make sure it was as lame an ending as i expected.

  16. Saw preview screening of "Immortals" -- some beautiful shots, but boy is this a bad version of "300", "Clash of the Titans", and "Gladiator"... Costumes ROCKED tho!

  24. read "Uprising" just now... Kick Ass... and as i'm enjoying it, i'm like "this would be a killer Vin Diesel vehicle..." Then i realize David Twohy wrote all my fav Diesel flicks (Riddick being in my top 20 "can watch anytime" list)... Is this just a spec??? Don't see anything on imdbpro about a sale

Not sure who it originated with, but Twohy was one of the writers to do a draft (Charles Leavitt and Brad Caleb Kane after him). It' still in "development" though not active, and Twohy has nothing to do with it anymore (which is disheartening). According to studiosystem, Columbia has it, with Wolfgang Petersen still attached to direct, and Red Wagon producing. But still... no Twohy.
