I uploaded the script for The Artist awhile back. It comes in at 42 pages but it's kind of cheat with no dialogue.

Seriously. Could you take any longer. I am wondering if I should bother reading this thing at this point. It's kinda bulky.

@BoyNo: it's a personal challenge to read & review this...and it is bulky. Been busy with fam in town at Ritz, then i've been outlining my next script. Haven't read shit but the Hollywood Reporter in a cab home. Going to read & review thurs morn 100%

  6. wants to know if he should include camera diectionsin the new script he's writing to Direct. I have a very vivid idea of how it should look and want my readers/financiers to SEE it as well.

Agreed. I mean if you want to show any conceits or special setpieces that drive the story and show the world or characters you've created. I was sitting in a studio exec's office and he was showing me some comic panels for a movie and it didn't add anything - but I saw some panels that had so much heart and action in them yesterday, I was like "wow, that rocks..."

As far as my question goes, Nate at the ** answered it with this: http://mysterymanonfilm.blogspot.com/2008/02/examples-of-cinematic-storytelling.html

As far as storyboards -- I storyboard EVERYTHING I'm gonna shoot. Have an amazing artist I work with...

Thanks for the replies tho guys

  7. Was fiending to film something on my 5D, so I took a concept I had and shot it last week... Didn't come out bad at all -- especially since it's my 1st Directing/ Gaffing/ DP'ing job EVER lol Check it out guys... If you like it, send it to people/post it on your respective blogs... From now on, I'm STRICTLY filming what I write and producing "sizzlers" to put my projects in a better position to sell. Fuggit!

  8. Saw Transformers 3 IMAX 3D -- TRUE IMAX 6 STORY screen (68st and bway in NYC -- in case u wanted to know). Was PACKEDDDD an hr early! This is a STADIUM style theatre and it was FLOODED! Movie was actually very funny, Rosie was HOT, and all I could think during the building crash (trailer ain't shit): "how much did this ONE scene cost? $10-20Million??" The last half hr of this film is unreal. Gets blurry at times tho :-(

  9. Funniest comment EVER re Transformers3 : As a one-eyed writer, I am offended that I do not have a chance to see the film at the midnight advance showings because they are all 3D. There are plenty of other monoculists out there who are as pissed as I am. Maybe I should sue under the Persons With Disabilities Act. I’ve got my eye on you, Mr. Bay.

  11. Pete Postlethwaite -- BRILLIANT FUCKING ACTOR... Just reflecting on how ill he was... Watching "Usual Suspects" now -- Kobayashi killin'em! His last year on earth he dd "Inception", "The Town", and "Clash of the Titans"... Don't get me started on "In the Name of the Father"... RIP

  12. Grand Piano = worst let down in a while... What a waste of my damn time. And "Red Phoenix" wasted my time today too! F*ck these bootleg specs, I'm reading some George RR Martin and getting my "Game of Thrones" on!

Do not ever take his advise. He is a Script Nazi. Also, you seriously have to get over the GOT obsession. It's getting seriously disturbing at this point.

@ BoyNo: Spending Sat/Sun reading the next G.O.T. book, so go watch "Split Second" somewhere and recite the god awful dialogue verbatim :-D

@ Red: The writing in "Grand Piano" is CRISP. Story is telegraphed a MILE AWAY. If u have half a brain u'll figure the movie out 25min in -- suffers from lack of story... I literally had to stop at page 90 and skip to last 5 pages cause I had to make sure it was as lame an ending as i expected.

Nope. I just hate the guy. He pontificates his point in the worst possible way to anyone that isn't as anal retentive as he is. There is a huge difference between sharing what you have learned and shoving it down people's throats. Every last thing he ever wrote feels like a sermon to me.

But.... This is just my opinion. I am much more focused on intent when reviewing anything. As such I am less likely to bash the crap out of something with minor fixable issues. Something h...

Read all the books a few years back. Took a couple hundred pages to get all the names/plots straight but once I did I was hooked. Feels odd to say but give it a couple hundred pages...it's worth it!

    3. Cyber Hater

      Cyber Hater

Cardney: Well i figure since I've seen season 1 and read Wikipedia overview I have all the major beats/twists/etc -- so it's easier to go into 2nd book w/out having read the 1st. Had debate with female worker in Barnes & Noble about my view on jumping str8 into 2nd book, but after 3min of rationality being slung by moi she conceeded that I was correct in jumping str8 into "A Clash of Kings"... Now gonna marathon "The Killing" this week so I can be fully caught up
