  1. House of Cards...now THAT is television.

  2. Man, Monuments Men got critically hammered. Is it is bad as the reviews say?

  3. So can I assume QT isn't looking for notes on Hateful Eight?

  5. So I'm hearing that the Hateful Eight script that is out is actually Seth MacFarlane's western.

  6. Looking for work. Know anybody hiring a slightly used, but still under warranty writer?

I think the first season is on Netflix. I'll check it out.

I agree, Foz. And that Best Man speech felt utterly interminable. That's what I mean about these episodes being too long. The character stuff is drawn out and the mystery is rushed. Did like the very ending and the use of "Oh What A Night".

ds - I'll still be excited to see it, can't wait. The episodes are extremely well made and the actors great, I just want better structure I guess. I think having only three episodes a season (or series) - and movie length - is the problem actually in this case. Felt the same about Columbo.

The first at least has a bit of edge to it, the second is a mess. Neither seem that concerned with presenting a mystery as much as just indulging the characters and comedy. I'm a die hard Holmes fan in every medium and style, but do the hard work of creating a great mystery.

Wow. Really shocked by this reaction. I was hugely disappointed by the first two episodes. I'm not alone, check out the Empire forum. There is shark jumping language being used.

  16. Really not sure how to feel about American Hustle. On one hand, I admire the theme of the story and the ambition of the storytelling; on the other hand, it feels like a hot mess and is just not as satisfying as it should be.

It's a shame because there was a great story there...somewhere. And you're right, DD: It was told in such a meandering, confusing style that it felt like work just to follow or even to CARE. The actors are all great, but it felt like Russell overindulged them and maybe improvised himself right out of a ooherent movie. And to Mike's point as well, the hair and clothes almost turn them all into caricatures. Oh well. I did get a couple big laughs out of the "Science Oven...

  20. "LOVE" - short I wrote - just won Best Film at Southampton Film Week. Not the Oscars - but still nice cool that the film's out there making its way in the world.

  21. Clocking in at 89 pages, the fastest first draft I've ever done for my first Horror/Thriller. It's not great by any means, but hoorah, it's done. FOR NOW.

  22. It's been a while since I've hated a character as much as I hate Dana Brody or whatever her last name is.
