  1. I don’t normally toot my own horn, but... my western script “DEATH OF A LEGEND” is the Grand Prize Winner in the StoryPros Screenwriting Competition, beating out almost 1,000 other screenplays. Tracking Board coverage from DB and JT helped me improve the script, so a very big thanks to them. I’m hoping the win will help me in my quest to find a manager.

  2. If I'm completely honest, I feel like I've lost my ability to write. I haven't been able to flow at the level I used to be able to in a very long time.

Take a few days off. Read a book. Percolate. Then set yourself a minor deadline, like X pages in X hours. The adrenaline will do the rest.

Cheers remains unbeatable for a single-set workplace comedy.

"If they move, kill 'em!" ... such a great line from a classic film. And the fact that he's in his 70s and still working (ie Killing Jesus) is pretty spectacular.

  14. Any suggestions on how to get more views on The Black List? I'm assuming doing the paid evals help...thanks guys.

    1. agkinowerken

      agkinowerken

A score of 8 or higher gets it listed in the weekly industry email. Mine had zero views until that happened; afterwards, many downloads. The paid eval is critical.

  15. Hmm, Write2Reel went to a "paid site" status yesterday. ($60.00 a year) How many of you frequent this "little brother" to the Tracking Board? For the most part, TB kicks ass over it in all areas, but lately some gems have popped up via someone scanning in hard to find scripts. I think I'll pass on paying for their weak service. Any thoughts?

    1. agkinowerken

      agkinowerken

I found it a good source for older, harder-to-find scripts -- e,g, a recent thread on Hitchcock thrillers, mostly scanned originals -- but I'm not convinced it's worth $60 per year... Also, lack of warning of movement to pay service was somewhat annoying....

This could have been the perfect vehicle for the two Colemans -- Gary and Dabney -- back in 1985. The poster practically draws itself. Little Gary in the b.g., arms folded, doing his "whatchatalkingabout" business. Dabney in shades and a Miami Vice suit taking a pratfall down some stairs. Maybe Rebecca De Mornay to the side, giving a withering yet sexy frown.

Years later, Tarantino would cite it as the definitive film of his youth.

  18. Anyone attend the staged reading of “1969: A Space Odyssey?” Curious if it was true to the script that was uploaded, which I found to be a bit dense.

    1. agkinowerken

      agkinowerken

It's been a few months since I read the script but it did seem that some of the action had been condensed for ease of spoken narration. Overall an enjoyable evening if only for Jared Harris being a standout as Kubrick. I hope they do more events like this.
