  1. Excited! My horror-thriller just made it to the top 10 at Austin and top 25 at Page in its category. Hope to see some of you in Austin.

  2. New MAD MAX: FURY ROAD trailer is cray cray.

  3. Bradley Cooper's CHEF re-titled to ADAM JONES... apparently JOHN SMITH was unavailable?

I would love to hear what the logic was behind this decision. "We wanna do Larry Crowne business, people!!"

  4. So The Rover's budget was ~$12 million and it made $69K opening weekend. Probably won't make more than $100K in its total theatrical run. Is there any hope for it to recover its budget? How much money can this movie potentially make on VOD/rental? Could it ever make up for its budget or is it just a dud for the studio?

Given its Australian pedigree, expect it to make a couple of bucks down here too.

  5. Listed on front page as a sale...Centers on a group of celebrated NASCAR drivers who use their unique expertise to aid a Nazi resistance team. Only problem is, NASCAR didn't exist until 1948. Unless this is another time loop concept.

Maybe it isn't a period piece. The last time I was in LA, I overheard something about Huntington Beach being like Florida, but for Nazis. :P

  6. Congrats to Michael Perri for landing a staff writing position!

  7. Hannibal Season 2 might be the greatest piece of television I have ever seen. That finale, while slow at times, builds to the most emotionally devastating set piece to air on television.

  8. Ronald Moore's bible for Battlestar Gallactica is nothing short of "frakking" genius. If anybody is looking to see what it takes to write a series, do yourself a favor and read that TV Bible... it's outstanding. I keep re-reading it and I learn something new every time

  9. My latest action thriller, Kennedy Space Center, is going out. Wish me luck!

  10. Writing is fun. Trying to write? Not so much.

  11. Guys and Gals...I need some awesome horror scripts please. I just had a crazy meeting with producers who want to produce a horror film, but refuse to watch them.

http://forum.tracking-board.com/index.php?/topic/4576-haunted-eric-kripke/?hl=kripke -- Eric Kripke's HAUNTED might fit the bill. Read it years ago, and if I recall correctly, it involves a 'sorta' family of ghosts.

  12. I really like Max's writing and his style but... man, that interview was something else. Wouldn't want any women I know near him.

  13. Gravity. HOLY SHIT.

  14. My psycho-thriller has just been optioned. It's titled: "The Cuckoo's Plight”. Jim Sheridan who directed "My Left Foot" – from which Daniel Day Lewis won an academy award - is onboard as an executive producer.

  15. Anyone know a film or show with the milieu of paparazzi life and/or a paparazzo as a principal character?

  16. you know how much of screenwriting is simplifying? i'd say most of it

Shit's like trying to write 90-minute long, commercially-viable haikus. :P

Worth reading for someone who knows nothing/has zero interest in baseball? (it's about baseball, right?)

  19. Sorkin's description of the structure for his Steve Jobs script sounds interesting.

I think it's brilliant, and a really unique way of handling a biopic. And if Sorkin can pull it off (and I have every faith that he will), then I'm gonna jump the gun and say that the competing Ashton Kutcher project's going to look pretty goofy/tired in comparison.

  20. Hibernating in my writer cave all winter. Must. Finish. Pilot.

  21. Thank God the Star Wars people are smart and got Michael Arndt on board. I was hoping they got Pixar involved with the story.

  22. What is your favorite "be careful what you wish for" script/movie? Mine is a tie between Bruce Almighty and Big.

  23. Congrats to Dan Dollar! Great news on the script - worth the attention.

  24. Just got married last week y'all and started a writing fellowship this week... life is good... how are you?
