  1. The First pic of Tom Hardy as Bane is awesome. He looks so bulked and bad-ass. And the mask, looks so cool.

I want the action figure right now!

  2. I see the Straw Dogs script is in the file exchnge. But is actually going with that, cos it must be nearly two years since they filmed it. Has it been shelved permently?

Releases later this year from Screen Gems - 09/16/2011 is the temp date on the schedule.

Lurie has proclaimed it the best thing he has ever done. Says the last 30 minutes will rival any truly great thriller climax in recent history. Says Eric Northman is going to be a huge star. Wake me when I am supposed to give a rip.

    3. gatsby

      gatsby

Wonder if it will rival the last 30 minutes of the original? Why remake this?

  3. Just saw the new Spider-man trailer. CANNOT WAIT. I had high hopes, and it hasn't let me down. Already saw a six-minute reel last summer at big screen(a snipet of which is included in trailer where the Lizard bursts from the sewers in the girls bathroom, starlting two high schoolers). But all the new footage has made me even excited.

I agree. Third most anticipated film for this year!

Have they drastically changed his origin story so that his father was developing a spider web or something related to spiders? If so, I find that troubling.

It can join Phantom Menace 3D in its midichlorian device. And my complete lack of interest. Zing!

  4. with the script coverage, do i just send out the script and everything get an analysis, or do i have to write the logline, character descriptions?

    1. RazorBlade1968

      RazorBlade1968

I just gave them a log line with the script. That was it. The coverage (if you get the full package) will come back to you with THEIR logline (the way a reader would logline it for their boss) and the coverage, etc. They will actually do the character breakdown, etc. You just need your script and the logline.

    2. admin

      admin

I would just email them. I know when you get coverage the coverage email address is all over the pages. But, I'm sure it's like any studio service. Just send a script and your done.

    3. dietgreentea

      dietgreentea

All you need to provide is the script. Anything else is optional (and unnecessary). The coverage will give you the reader's logline, summary, character breakdown, comments and final scoring grid.

  5. I was really pleased to hear that Prometheus is going to be a Smashing 15 here in the UK and R-rated in the US. Means no cuts or edits. It will be viewed the way Ridley intended it to be.

Amen! Can't wait. The second on my list (in terms of release dates) of what I expect to be amazing movies this summer.

Smashing ended up in there by accident because my stupid phone wanted include a predictive txt at the last second.

  6. I've seen casting sides on Showfax for a film called Viral from Casting guru Nancy Mayor. Would be for Dustin from here's Viral or is there another film by the same name coming out? Just curious.

  7. Been watching the brilliant 90-minute Ghost Rider 2 making of. Also watched the deleted scenes. The first one Blaze was in a church. the comes out trying to contain the rider on his knees in the street. A figure, revealed to be a priest is standing over him. and was surprised to see him being played by Noel Clarke. WTF?

  8. Just pre-ordered my Dark Knight trilogy book, which will have selected concept art and the complete screenplays for Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises. July 26th Can't come soon enough.woo-hoo.

      sbbn

Could you post a link to the book you're talking about (amazon works well!); I looked and found one about the making but didn't seem to have the sreenplays.

    2. alexandermartinez

      alexandermartinez

It doesn't have the screenplays included.

There is going to be a UK website selling a Trilogy screenplay book, with storyboards (similar to the Inception one in 2010). It is also being sold as a Kindle book on Amazon.com

  9. Off to see Captain America 2 today. Can't wait and judging by the reviews here in the Uk. It's one of the better marvel solo attempts. Can wait to see what the end credits reveal is, too.

    1. benskelly2

      benskelly2

Marvel's track record of consistent quality seems to be getting to a Pixar level now. It turns out cutting out the traditional film studio system and the stupid notes that go with it actually works.

    2. axalon

      axalon

Really? I thought Thor: The Dark World was completely forgettable as was Iron Man 3.

Everyone seems to love the new Captain movie though so maybe they're turning things around.

    3. benskelly2

      benskelly2

Well, some are going to be better than others, but the overall control of the quality and, indeed, the unfolding of their "universe", has been pretty masterful IMO and I'm not even a comic book guy - not at all.

  10. Well, that was misleading. On the main menu for Xbox live it has a picture of Taylor Kitsch and says Savages. Though it might be an early pre-release which Xbox has done for Resident Evil 5, Looper and Amazing Spider-man as Savages isn't out of DVD/Blu-ray till feb in the UK, but no, click the pic and it comes up with the Hoffman and Linney film from 2008.

Uhm... that was a great film. What's the problem? ;)

    3. Hasmap

      Hasmap

Never seen as it just didn't appeal to me. But I wanted to see the Oliver Stone's Savages and not the other one. That's the only real issue.Just disappointed I cant see it for, like, another month.

  11. Just something crazy that I never would've seen coming. A guy who i've got on my facebook, who i went to school with, and ten years ago went to a Limp Bizkit gig with, is a now director, special effects guy and co-founder of The Brewery Visual effects company. And is currently working on Welcome To The Punch, and has work on A Mighty Heart and The Killer Inside Me as well as couple of other well known smaller films. He also an uncredited mention for working on Slumdog Millionaire. Gue...

that's cool as hell! do you still talk to him? if not, catch up, etc.

    2. ... who are those guys?

      ... who are those guys?

You went to a Limp Bizkit concert? :)

    3. Hasmap

      Hasmap

To answer both. No, I haven't talked to him in a long time. I just a pic on facebook, and was like,oh my god, that's Neil Marshall sitting at that table with him and others.Yep, I went to see Limp Bizkit in London as like most of my mates back, was a big fan. I just generally love my music.

  12. Watched CA: Civil War last night, and I have to say, it is the best film Marvel have made to date. Spider-man gets more screen time than I imagined. And as for Black Panther, is the best hero to enter the MCU in a long time. The costume, his fighting style make him so bad-ass. I cannot wait for his solo outing.

    1. Scott Crawford

      Scott Crawford

Saw it yesterday. People may be a little fed up of superhero movies (not me, not yet) but I still think there's a lot for writers to learn, from how to write ensemble to giving your minor characters their big moment.

What is California Civil War? Sounds interesting.

  13. Just seen that J.K Rowlings Fantastic Beasts and where to find them screenplay is going to be available in hardback

Great screenplay. It's definitely on the page so I'm sure it will be on the stage...

      rywold

Thought it was great. They made some small, but important changes from the screenplay.

  15. Loved the Star Wars pic they released yesterday of the entire cast at Pinewood Studios. Was really good but surprised to see Attack the Block's John Boyega and Oscar Isaac among the cast. It is just so fantastic seeing the future of the series alongside the original cast.

    1. specwriter

      specwriter

And Andy Serkis, who knew? But no Jesse Plemons, who was rumored. The new ingenue Daisy Ridley looks just like Natalie Portman in her headshot but in her reel more like Kiera Knightley. I'm excited for it, now, too, whereas before I was tepid.

      No Billy Dee?

  16. uploaded a segment of my script. Would it serve me better if I uploaded to to the main forum. Just wondering if people might not check the WIP that much? Any feedback would greatly appreciated. Cheers.

    1. admin

      admin

People check the WIP quite often, but have found that they are far more likely to read/review/notes on a full script. Segments/pages get some reads, but less frequently.

    2. Hasmap

      Hasmap

Thanks for that Red. Good to know.

  17. Getting a little concerned that I haven't recieved an email from TB coverage to confirm they got my script. Sent it Sunday 2am Uk time. Saturday 7pm Los Angeles time i think. Is it because it's the weekend that I may not have heard anything? has anyone else had this problem?

    1. RazorBlade1968

      RazorBlade1968

It takes a few days. I think it was about three days before I got my confirmation.

    2. Hasmap

      Hasmap

I did an overnight before and got the confirmation by the next day. This time, I've done the three day turnaround.

  18. When you send your script for coverage. Does it really matter what analyst you get?

I would definitely ask for someone who likes the genre you write in - it does matter

  19. being s bit dumb here, but say im using the word swat in my screenplay. do i always have to use capitals for that word when i use it?

    1. jessefoxchaney

      jessefoxchaney

assuming you're referring to a SWAT team then yes, for accuracy's sake, since SWAT is itself an acronym.

      SWAT swats the fly.

  20. Was so pleased to hear about the developements at Comic-Con. Ant-Man movies finally on the way, with some early awesome-sounding (test) footage. Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier. Am about the propsect on winter soldier, as i am huge fan of the graphic novel, But the possibility of Bucky being frozen for modern times is odd. Also, added this link the French Taken 2 trailer, which shows more a plot point, not totally suggest in the 1st trailer. That Kim is having to save her parents.

    2. sankofa

      sankofa

I heard Comic-Con was outstanding. I totally want to go to one! Ant Man is going to happen, Black Panther is in development, etc. I can't wait! I'll check out your taken 2 link...

  21. Thought Abe Lincoln: Vampire Hunter was really, really good. Not only from the action POV, but from the political POV of the character, too. Bekmambetov hasn't let me down yet. And just watched the trailer for Dread. Karl Urban looks so Bad-ass as the man himself. The look of Dread and Mega City looks very faithful to the comic. Also, you can't ignore that has a look and feel identical to this year's The Raid.

    1. Hasmap

      Hasmap

On that last part, I've actually come to understand that the shooting for started, way, way, way, before the Raid even began shooting or even its production.

    2. DarkDestroyer

      DarkDestroyer

The book was awesome. I've been looking forward to seeing the film. Dredd looks great.

  22. Apparently a minute-long teaser trailer for The Man of Steel will be shown before the Dark Knight Rises. Will wait with intrigue to see what they've done. Although, there's only going to be a quick glimpse of Henry Cavill in costume as Superman.

    1. sbbn

      sbbn

Have to say, as interested as I am in seeing what they do with Superman, I'm MUCH more interested in seeing Dark Knight Rises. Superman has a long ways and a near impossible task to catch up with what they've done with the Batman reboot.

    2. benskelly2

      benskelly2

I'm a little tired of reboots. I thought they should have let Singer build on what he started. Not every story or superhero needs to be "darker" and "edgier". And pretty soon they will be "rebooting" every year with new talent, thinking that's all they have to do and audiences will just back again and again like lemmings.

  23. Got my script coverage back a couples days ago. Been working on advised areas most of the day. I just want to get it done asap. Went mental, when Final draft decided it wanted to die on me. Annoyed I had to re-write the previous 20 minutes work again

    1. sangun

      sangun

      You have your backups on?

    2. Cyber Hater

      Cyber Hater

ALWAYS press ctrl + S aka save...every time you write something new. Do it like a habit. Like a superstition. And always keep a thumb drive next to you -- every 30min or so back up the whole file in case your comp crashes or something retarded like that

  24. Judging by the trailer, Dark Shadows isn't at all what I thought it would be. I was expecting, a dark gothic tale, with a little bit of horror thrown in for good measure. But it seems Depp, Burton and co have a more campish, comedic take. I doesn't bother me either way, as Iike the look of it and will watch it regardless. Just abit surprised by the direction of the film.

    1. aphid47

      aphid47

How are you surprised? Burton has been mostly camp lately.

    2. mebishop2001

      mebishop2001

Looks really cheesy. Pass from me.

  25. just seen msn uk's snipet of footage from dark knight rises. Man, that brawl between Batman and Bane, and his henchmen against the Gotham police on the city hall steps looks so crazy. And at least you get a look at Gordon-Levitt in cop outfit + Miranda Tate
