  1. Alright, lets talk specs - who is reading what? Who is loving what? Who is on the cusp?

Read Small Talk -- predictable and unamusing. A lot of the specs feel kind of dated - even Disciple Program felt like it belonged in the 90s or 00s. Anybody else feel that way?

Reading HELLBOUND. Started out not liking it, but it's getting better now that we're in hell.

Just finished Prairie Dogs and really enjoyed it - think it's a great show/series/pilot idea. If cast well, we could have another funny mainstream office comedy on our hands here folks...

  2. Added 200+ new pilots (not files yet) to the 2013 grid before they get picked up for 2014.

Trying to compile them now with a few of you other wonderful people on here. Already have about 300 there, and lots of the new ones have yet to be written.

      200 I should say.

Definitely. This will be my first contest, ever. Very excited to start putting my work out there. Good luck to everyone!

I wonder how many of the people who voted actually read the scripts in question?

    3. LeftyJones

      LeftyJones

Thought of an idea to tweak it for (Future?) editions... So it bends a little further from Black List. Since we're talking about specs... Ask the voters -- "WHICH FIVE SPECS WOULD YOU BUY IF YOU WERE RUNNING THE STUDIO?" Gives it a slightly different slant and would be cool to view it in those terms.

Kitchen Sink, The Forgotten Man, Expulsion, Triple Nine & Hoof Harrington's Greatest Hits.

All had massive potential. Less Kitchen Sink, which in my opinion should be filmed as is. And yesterday god-d-it.

  5. Weekend Read - I need two thrillers $5 million and under - who has read and can recommend what? (Current scripts only)

What do you need them for? Just good reads or something else? My co. has got a couple good projects that could use help in the casting. A contained one-room thriller and another that could go lean down to $5m. Message me if you're interested.

Reading horror screenplays since the next couple projects I write will be horror/thrillers :) So, I'm reading Incident on 459 (Sparling), Incident at Sans Asylum (Zahler) and will read A Rose In The Darkness after that.

Oh, come on. That's like the 5th 'moon' based project this past 2 months. I'm so mad at my manager who told me last year not to write anything like this when I pitched him something similar to Dark Moon...sigh.

  12. Thought I just had a crazy case of deja vu... only to realize half the news is so slow today, that even the trades are reporting OLD news (Black Panther, Dictator... both of those are from 2010 on TB). Sheesh, Sundance news can't come soon enough!

And just saw they are remaking a 1980's Mamet classic "About Last Night" ... jesus f*ing christ can't Hollywood come up with an original edgy comedy about sex in the 2000's? Isn't that what "Swingles", "Fuck-Buddies", etc is all about... If they remake Ferris Bueller, I will fucking blow a lung...

    3. boynotorious

      boynotorious

That was Ed Zwick that did About Last Night. And he didn't even write the movie. Or at least he didn't take credit. I just cataloged the Shooting Draft a month or so back. Mamet has more taste than that. And it's simply not his style.

  18. Hey guys, that Sony hack was a pretty dark day for the industry, and I think it's irresponsible to bring to light anything damaging to those affected. Also, most of those items that were deleted already existed (as they were not actually from any hack of any kind, but were already part of the community.
