So with you there CH... Maybe I started zoning and missed something -- but ####SPOILER ######

The whole antagonist goal was to study the tech that made him tick? Wasn't that tech designed on earth 300 years ago? So wouldn't they already have it? Just asking -- cuz you know that's the whole conflict of the movie and it makes zero sense. But again, I zoned so maybe I missed an explanation.

only if it adds in the telling of the story.

Agreed. I mean if you want to show any conceits or special setpieces that drive the story and show the world or characters you've created. I was sitting in a studio exec's office and he was showing me some comic panels for a movie and it didn't add anything - but I saw some panels that had so much heart and action in them yesterday, I was like "wow, that rocks..."

As far as my question goes, Nate at the ** answered it with this: http://mysterymanonfilm.blogspot.com/2008/02/examples-of-cinematic-storytelling.html

As far as storyboards -- I storyboard EVERYTHING I'm gonna shoot. Have an amazing artist I work with...

Thanks for the replies tho guys

  12. Watching "Aliens" -- now I know what "Prometheus" will be about! It's def about the ORIGINAL alien ship Ripley's salvage crew found with the aliens in "Alien". The same one the colonists find in the beginning of "Aliens"...

  13. Watching "Inception" on Blu-Ray...again!

Man that thing rocks if you have the right setup. Wish there was more to the entire package however. It's almost certainly going to be an annoying double dip situation.

  14. Went to a PGA Screening of BEASTS OF THE SOUTHERN WILD. One word: Wow! Brilliantly touching, yet completely unorthodox film -- with great acting from completely untrained civilians. See it next week. Well worth the price of admission. I put my rep on that...

i can't wait to see this...next to The Dark Knight Rises and a few other movies, this is high on my list of films to watch. And, it should come to my town since Pittsburgh does support indie films and we have smaller indie theatres to show it in. :)

Thanks for the tip on Broken City. I'll read that next. I just finished London Boulevard (FANTASTIC)and Gold (BEYOND LOUSY)...

    4. Jabbatron

      Jabbatron

Chronicle...meh. Just watch Akira again, or read Marvel's "Runaways." Much better.

  18. What should I read next..."Double Indemnity" or "Body Heat"?

    1. specwriter

      specwriter

I'll say Body Heat because I actually read it in film school and it's a very solid script. (at least I thought so when I was 20.) I watched Double Indemnity last year and didn't think it measured up to Sunset Boulevard, but what does?

      @ BoyNo - it's a 4 Quadrant film.

@ TB - luv Rain, but Ninja Assasin flopped nasty styles.

@ Charlie - yes, original shit...

      electroglodyte

Originality and, if it fits, a rousing battle scene or two (preferably with a twist). Avatar for all its faults had a decent battle at the end.

    4. Cyber Hater

      Cyber Hater

      true - twist part

  20. What's the sexiest script you've ever read or can remember reading? Serious answers please

    1. AliM

      AliM

The guy at the copy shop once accidentally printed one of my scripts onto glossy, photo paper. My god, did that shit look sexy! Took my freshly printed draft of 'Vampires Vs Robots 2: The Revengening' straight home and immediately started rubbing my d!ck all over it. But what did it expect? A script lays around, dressed all shiny like that... looks like IT WANTS IT!

Oh, wait. You said "serious answers" only. :P

Fair idea. But I have a lot of pre-existing films go use as visual paradigms

      sangun

I uploaded the script for The Artist awhile back. It comes in at 42 pages but it's kind of cheat with no dialogue.

Just went down to 96 due to QuickFlix's review. While that was bound to happen at some point, a lower RT rating isn't going to stop me from seeing this. Still excited.

    3. DarkDestroyer

      DarkDestroyer

It's back up to 975 lol.

    4. DarkDestroyer

      DarkDestroyer

  24. X-Men First Class is def top 4 Marvel film ever...with a cameo SO PERF it makes it well worth it just for that alone...oh yeah, Fassbender kills it too :-)l
