I'm definitely excited for this Superman version. My only gripe so far re: the trailers is the music doesn't invoke any sense of feeling or emotion. It's just background beats meant to punctuate the edits.

  2. And Mad Men is BACK! What an episode. Roger Sterling was on fire.

The previous two episodes, I actually was checking the time as it went on "how much longer" Last night, I was tingly and pissed when I realized it was already over.

  4. Anyone else think the latest episode of Mad Men was lazy and clunky? Probably my least favorite of the entire series run, and I'm a huge fan.

Yeah it was a double meaning - he was talking TO the black guy, but talking ABOUT his own dad. So I agree he was outwardly showing compassion for the situation - but the subtext was him acknowledging his own father's sadness.

Then had it pulled out when the kid mentioned he was scared for Henry.

But I also agree the direction, lighting, setups, etc... were all strangely weak. Even distracting to the point I mentioned it to my wife as we were watching.

You guys are all missing the point of what his son said... "People go to the movies when they're sad" or whatever the exact quote was. Whose idea was it to go to the movies? And to watch it a second time? It was Bobby recognizing and verbalizing his father was sad. And doing it in a way where he basically was saying, "I know you're hurting dad, but I'm here for you if you need me." THAT's why Don felt the rush of love. Then had it pulled out when the kid...

  8. I am speechless. My hard drive on my laptop (where I write) fried today and I lost everything I had been writing for the last 6 months. My heart is crushed. Kids, please for the love of God, go back up your files right now.

If you're on Mac or the drive itself is physically damaged, that solution doesn't help. But if you're on windows and it's a system fail, it's worth a try. External Hard Drive enclosures are not expensive at all.

I'm on Windows -- and it was a system failure from Windows not an actual hardware problem. So I just got an external hard drive enclosure popped the drive out than connected it to another computer via USB -- that enabled me to bypass the system and just read all the files like it was a random external drive. Not only did I easily recover any files -- but was able to restore windows and pop the drive back into my computer.

And since it's set in the 80s, they'll likely capitalize on real events and... duh duh duh wait for it. Just copy what's working so well for Homeland in terms of making the characters torn. Guarantee Russel's line "I would never betray my country" leads to: "And which country is that?" Which will be the overall arc of the show and they'll be doubles by season 2 if it lasts. And if it takes even that long.

I just love the irony that two movies he called out for having worst screenplays of the year got WGA noms... And yet, his followers don't see the irony in that. His taste does not match the tastemakers -- period.

  15. If you haven't read "Devil and the Deep Blue Sea" yet, do yourself a favor and read it. It's a winner. My favorite by far out of both the Black and Hit lists. So there's that. :)

It's two different scripts -- same title: The Pickering one is about the dead wife, homeless girl, the raft and all that. The Hogan one is WWII, Uboats, Nazis and all that. The Hogan one is BL 2012. Pickering is about to shoot with Chloe Moretz

  16. Black List. Monday... via Twitter. *eye roll*

    1. LeftyJones

      LeftyJones

IndieWire article -- Franklin verifies one title per min in random order then will reveal top ten - then the whole list will be on blcklst blog. SO figure at 1 Per minute, prob an hour and a half slow drip. Hopefully they do more than one per.

  17. Time for the BlackList game. Guess what the top 3 will be. I'll start...1. Story of Your Life 2. Somacell 3. White House Down

    1. LeftyJones

      LeftyJones

BrianCD -- you mean a "low" placing would be a PR nightmare right? Because after all the touting of the script as proof that the BL site is a godsend - McCarthy HAS to place high for Franklin to be able to stand tall and say "See I told you" we found a script the whole town likes.

It's based on a graphic novel that Kosinski conceived of first. So the film at least has always been Oblivion.
