    Watched the pilot for "The Strain" today. It's good, but I had hoped for better. It doesn't hit with the impact of Darabont's Walking Dead pilot. Del Toro directed and the casting and performances are a bit rough. Only the first ep, so I'm sure it will find its groove.

      imo eot is a refreshinlgy competent blockbuster by commitee. An amalgamation of other cool ideas. If it feels as unique/original to you as some of the genre classics mentioned than I disagree. That is all :)

      Cinematically, Matrix stands on its own though. Just like a Die Hard, Predator, Aliens... EOT on the other hand is clearly Groundhog Day (or Source Code) with Sentinels and James Cameron military porn. It is great though :)
