    So The Rover's budget was ~$12 million and it made $69K opening weekend. Probably won't make more than $100K in its total theatrical run. Is there any hope for it to recover its budget? How much money can this movie potentially make on VOD/rental? Could it ever make up for its budget or is it just a dud for the studio?

      Opening weekend was limited release so those numbers aren't a huge surprise for a small movie...

      It goes wide this weekend. Probably still won't do too well with everything else out but hopefully enough people will discover it. It's pretty great.

    Anyone attend the staged reading of “1969: A Space Odyssey?” Curious if it was true to the script that was uploaded, which I found to be a bit dense.

      Yes, I went. I believe it was the same one uploaded. Was pretty cool to see. Definitely think a script that's a little more "upbeat" is better suited for a live read though.

    Anybody else watch THE LANDING (was referenced in Friday's 'approved Friday post'. If not - you should contact the guy who sent the email. Just got done watching it - really a superb short.

    Wow, have you seen the extended cut of 'That Thing You Do!'? The editor made Hanks look brilliant with that theatrical cut. The extended cut feels almost like a completely different movie. The pace is way off and it's no where near as fun.

      I can't believe someone besides myself has seen that cut (That Thing You Do is one of my favorite 90s movies). And I completely agree with you. Very unnecessary additions.

    Can anyone recommend an amazing Western script of the last 2-3 years that has thus far gone unproduced? It's fine if it sold, but looking for something unproduced. Best of the best only. Thanks.

    Absolutely loved the "X-Men: Days of Future Past" trailer. Character focused and emotional.

    Why has the new Star Trek not beat the first one's opening weekend, even with 3D and Imax premiums and an 87% critics rating? It had the best trailer of the year. (No spoilers!)
