  1. The TB coverage has been really great for propelling the re-write of my script. A new title( The Rise and Fall of Harry Valentine has gone). The characters have more depth and one has brand new backstory essential to the plot. The pace and structure now consistant flow thanks to the scripts, etc, recommended.

Our company actually just started using them for our overall coverage. While I've not used them for us before, gotta say - there is a lot of good buzz from you guys. Excited to see the results!

  2. Thought Abe Lincoln: Vampire Hunter was really, really good. Not only from the action POV, but from the political POV of the character, too. Bekmambetov hasn't let me down yet. And just watched the trailer for Dread. Karl Urban looks so Bad-ass as the man himself. The look of Dread and Mega City looks very faithful to the comic. Also, you can't ignore that has a look and feel identical to this year's The Raid.

On that last part, I've actually come to understand that the shooting for started, way, way, way, before the Raid even began shooting or even its production.

The book was awesome. I've been looking forward to seeing the film. Dredd looks great.

  3. Thought I'd upload this link which Sofia Vergera's son uploaded for one of his internet blogs after visiting his Mum for a BTS look at Machete Kills: www.youtube.com/watch?v=FMT4eZMv2U4

It's a private video, ie, not accessible.

  4. uploaded a segment of my script. Would it serve me better if I uploaded to to the main forum. Just wondering if people might not check the WIP that much? Any feedback would greatly appreciated. Cheers.

People check the WIP quite often, but have found that they are far more likely to read/review/notes on a full script. Segments/pages get some reads, but less frequently.

Thanks for that Red. Good to know.

  5. Wahoo, my script is finally finished! Everything has been checked and is present and correct. And the final amount is 92 pages. And Iam very happy with it. This is the first time I thought its done, what do I do now?

With all due respect. Sit on it for two weeks. Stop worrying about length and what's "present and correct." Read it again. Go to the bank. Take out one hundred dollars and go find the nearest homeless person you can find. Sit them down, offer them fifty bucks, they'll ask for more, ergo the hundy. Make them read it right there on the bus bench. Watch their face for significant "tells" regarding your "rising action" and the more subtle aspects of character arc....

  6. Was so pleased to hear about the developements at Comic-Con. Ant-Man movies finally on the way, with some early awesome-sounding (test) footage. Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier. Am about the propsect on winter soldier, as i am huge fan of the graphic novel, But the possibility of Bucky being frozen for modern times is odd. Also, added this link the French Taken 2 trailer, which shows more a plot point, not totally suggest in the 1st trailer. That Kim is having to save her parents.

I heard Comic-Con was outstanding. I totally want to go to one! Ant Man is going to happen, Black Panther is in development, etc. I can't wait! I'll check out your taken 2 link...

  7. Was very disappointed that Disney decided not to put Joss Whedon's commentary track on the UK Blu-ray for Avengers. Although, I did find a two disc special edition only available at Sainsbury's Superkmaket, which is exclusive to them, that has a 100 minute Featurette, with the entire second bonus disc dedicated to the featurette, including scene selection to chose if you only want to watch certain parts.

  8. was very impressed with trailer for Skyfall which aired here in the UK on BBC1's this morning. Empireonline now has up on their site. its glorious.

That is some stunning cinematography! Now, if the action coreography is coherent/awesome, and the plot worthwhile, this might just be the best of the new Bond series yet.

  9. Was very suprised to see Aiden Gillen appear in the prologue. He always have a nasty streak in whatever the role he's play: 12 Rounds, Shanghai Knights, Blitz. But good for him on getting into Dark Knight Rises, even if it's a small role

Is he the guy who played the young Mayoral candidate in season three of The Wire?

  10. Watched Breaking Dawn last night. I thought it was slow and quite boring, sadly. And I can see why the reviews have been quite negative. It's a shame as the First was quite decent, the second was poor, Eclipse was the best(and the only that interested me was because of David Slades involvement, being a big fan of Hard Candy and 30 Days of Night. Anyone else seen it and what ya think? Hopefully part 2 will be a big improvement.

Well, I've never read the books and never will. They're supposed to be even worse than the films because of the perspective their told. Plus, quite vamp-flick fan. Its not i paid to watch them(expect breaking dawn) anyway as when the first two came out i was working at a cinema so i get in free. And I only watched Eclipse when it came out on Blu-ray, which by that time, i'd quit the cinema and was working in a video store. Plus there's jack crap on at the mo there i am. Seen I...

Cyber Hater: Does the shame I have over viewing the films add any amount to the character you have attributed to me? Things happen in this world that are hard to explain. Having seen the Twilight films is one of those things for me... ;)

      happy thanks giving all!

  11. Watched CA: Civil War last night, and I have to say, it is the best film Marvel have made to date. Spider-man gets more screen time than I imagined. And as for Black Panther, is the best hero to enter the MCU in a long time. The costume, his fighting style make him so bad-ass. I cannot wait for his solo outing.

Saw it yesterday. People may be a little fed up of superhero movies (not me, not yet) but I still think there's a lot for writers to learn, from how to write ensemble to giving your minor characters their big moment.

      aphid47

What is California Civil War? Sounds interesting.

  12. Watched Devil's Double the other day. And what good film it was, too. I thought Dominic Cooper was outstanding the way he portrayed both Uday's. Could an Oscar nod be out of the question?

  13. Watched Girl with the Dragon Tattoo today. And what a film it was. Easily, Daniel Craig's perfromance of his career. And Mara, was superb, and glad they made Lisbeth a younger than in the swedish v. So good, I went and bought the tripple-cd soundtrack from HMV afterwards. Don't buy st's very often.

  14. Watched the Wreck-it-Ralph trailer yesterday. Quite liked it. Was surprised though that Disney managed to secure the rights to feature characters from Street Fighter, Q-bert, Pac-man, Mortal Kombat, Sonic and Super Mario. That must've taken some talking to get Nintendo, Sega, Warner Bros, etc, to allows their characters into a Disney film!

Stoked for it as well. Looks like fun!

  15. Well, that was misleading. On the main menu for Xbox live it has a picture of Taylor Kitsch and says Savages. Though it might be an early pre-release which Xbox has done for Resident Evil 5, Looper and Amazing Spider-man as Savages isn't out of DVD/Blu-ray till feb in the UK, but no, click the pic and it comes up with the Hoffman and Linney film from 2008.

Never seen as it just didn't appeal to me. But I wanted to see the Oliver Stone's Savages and not the other one. That's the only real issue.Just disappointed I cant see it for, like, another month.

  16. What did anyone think of the Dark Knight Rises announcement trailer

Hasmap, good point, I hadn't thought of that -- his voice sounded normal, like Bruce Wayne, but they're talking about Batman and Gordon doesn't know he's Batman. So Gordon find out? And if Gordon's on a respirator and Bane has a gas mask on his face, does this mean there will be another neurotoxin released on Gotham City? I'd rather they not repeat that device as The Scarecrow used it in Batman Begins.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lazarus_Pit + The Ultimate Revenge + Creation of Bane + Bruce Wayne falling for Ms. Kyle + Bruce falling for Ra's Daughter + Ms. Kyle betraying Bruce to Ra's Al Ghul = Some pretty awesome shit ... just sayin'

The story is incredible. A friend who's working on it told me the plot -- suffice to say NO ONE will be mad at the end if this trilogy. Nolan topped himself with this... TRUST

  17. What did everyone think of the Sin City: A Dame to Kill for trailer? I wasn't sure about the music. The trailer itself seemed okay, but its early days, and I have have high expectations for it considering how much I loved the first one. Did Miller write the script himself or was RR involved? I know Monaghan did a draft. After the Spirit, I'd worry if It was just Miller writing.

Do you think Mickey Rourke was told not to drink water 24 hours prior to his voice over sessions?

It was okay. I guess i'm just not amped about this because it has been so long since the first one...but Josh Brolin in this? i'm curious

Can I get Man of tomorrow :)

    3. ThaVillain

      ThaVillain

Yeah, depends on the script for me. The more dense the action paragraphs, the longer it takes. Usually about 2-3 hours for me.

    4. sbbn

      sbbn

It's directly proportionate to the shittiness of the script. If the script keeps me engaged I can burn through it in less than an hour. If it's an incredibly shitty script, no matter how short, it may takes weeks to never-going-to-be-finished.

  19. When you send your script for coverage. Does it really matter what analyst you get?

I would definitely ask for someone who likes the genre you write in - it does matter

  20. Will be putting up a section of my script City of Aftermath(aka Bullets Of The Dishonoured) to get some reaction and feedback.

  21. with the script coverage, do i just send out the script and everything get an analysis, or do i have to write the logline, character descriptions?

    1. RazorBlade1968

      RazorBlade1968

I just gave them a log line with the script. That was it. The coverage (if you get the full package) will come back to you with THEIR logline (the way a reader would logline it for their boss) and the coverage, etc. They will actually do the character breakdown, etc. You just need your script and the logline.

    2. admin

      admin

I would just email them. I know when you get coverage the coverage email address is all over the pages. But, I'm sure it's like any studio service. Just send a script and your done.

    3. dietgreentea

      dietgreentea

All you need to provide is the script. Anything else is optional (and unnecessary). The coverage will give you the reader's logline, summary, character breakdown, comments and final scoring grid.
