Once I find a publisher for the article, I'll send you a link.

  2. Good news? "Terminator: Genisys" isn't as bad as expected. Bad news? It's still not good.

Ah, I see - 'spoiled' as in ruined, rather than just given away.

Why is it terrible marketing to put the best scene in the trailer? If the film is bad, you are never going to get good word-of-mouth so surely you have to just sucker as many people into seeing it on release?

  5. Question for those who read scripts on Kindle. Some scripts will hold my page on the Kindle, and some won't. I either download scripts directly from the tracking board on the device, I have them emailed to my email account by someone, or I email them directly to the Kindle using my @kindle.com email address. So why do some scripts save my place and others start back from page 1 every time I reload?

Might not help you but I run all pdfs through Briss before e-mailing them to the Kindle and don't have your problem. http://sourceforge.net/projects/briss/

  6. Best scripts with narration? Looking for a true masterclass in how narration should be executed. Prefer examples that are actually available here but whatever. Bring it!

Shawshank Redemption and Sunset Boulevard are the two that leap out at me. Rush is a good example of using it more than many guides would advise, but getting away with it.

Will go down as one of the most 'meh' Best Picture winners.

  8. Senior Year = Kickin' It Old Skool. Took me a while to remember but, yeah, switch breakdancing for cheerleading and switch genders. BOOM! Mid-six figures. Not cynical, just pointing out that Hollywood does more recycling than Greenpeace.

  9. I know this is a dead topic...but the more I think about it, it must be said: Interstellar is a complete mess.

I thought it was very good. Yes, you could pick some of it apart but compared to the average mindless $200m movie it is in a different league. Much better on the human side than Inception, as well.

  10. Does anyone read screenplays on a six-inch Kindle? Trying to help my eyes with the reduced light. How is it? Worth the money?

      joe_gillis

No, nowhere near a full page but it's surprisingly not much of a problem. I was thinking about buying a tablet to read scripts before trying with the Kindle and although not as good it meets my needs.

Yes, I use Briss to crop and then turn it sideways to read. I wouldn't buy a regular kindle to read script, though. I mainly use it for books.

  12. Scorsese needs a new editor he trusts. WOLF OF WALL STREET suffers from its length and just about every scene runs too long, sapping the film (and audience) of its energy.

I have no idea why Shutter Island was longer than 100 minutes. The story was decent genre stuff but pretty shallow at the end of the day.

The movie was insulting to the audience's intelligence.

  15. TBers who use tablets to read scripts on (iPad, Kindle Fire, Galaxy Tab) How has your experience been with it? Does it hurt your eyes to read off something like that for extended periods of time?

      Kindle DX is ideal.

Even a regular Kindle turned landscape is okay if you use something like Briss to trim the pdf.
