      Executed well, yes. Executed poorly, no. Just kinda like... every other potential movie idea.

      Not sure if cool, but, depending on the success of the film, video game worlds might be the next "superhero" genre.

       

      Think about it - pick something with a lot of lore and a large fandom, and you'll pretty much have a built-in hit. Heck, we have an Assassin's Creed movie coming out soon.

      And that's... okay I guess. The reason so many video game adaptations have failed in the past is because when you subtract player agency from a video game story, it can suddenly get a whole lot weaker, because you're removing that layer of identification to the character. I like BEING Max Payne, jumping into a room and using Bullet Time to clear it out. I don't like watching Mark Wahlberg PRETENDING to do the same thing. Same for Hitman or Prince of Persia. All those fail for the...
