  1. Does anyone know any good text-to-speech tools that work well with scripts? Would love to be able to listen to them while at work...

Voice Dream is a great text to speech. I use it on my iPhone and my iPad. I don't believe there is an android app. You can download different gender voices and accents. You have the ability to program the speech speed and the tone/pitch of the voice you are using. It's not perfect but the best one I've found so far.

  2. FADE OUT!!! First draft of HELL HOLE complete. Logline: Kept under wraps, but said to be a horror-thriller franchise in the vein of THE GRUDGE and THE CORE.

  3. I read the amazing SUNFLOWER late last year. Then this Cleveland 10-year kidnapping stuff pops up. Life really is stranger than fiction...

That was a really good read. All the more unsettling with the reality of the Cleveland case.

You've all sold me on giving the script a read. I'm off to read it now.

  5. It was a long struggle. Literally finished at the last minute. Submitted my Writer's Store entry. It was unpolished, raw and frankly not very good. I will take it as a 50 dollar lesson, harden my resolve and start deadline work early. I start my walking dead spec tomorrow.

That's super cool! It's fun to see how everyone interprets the logline.

Fingers crossed for you both! So curious to know what you both wrote. I'm sure they're both great!

  7. My short script that was one of the winning pieces for the 50 Kisses Competition has been made into a pretty cool film: http://www.50kissesfilm.com/movies/love-by-grindstone-films/ Yes - I'm probably a tad biased - but fun to see my words on the page turned into something visual

  8. Congrats to Dan Dollar! Great news on the script - worth the attention.

  9. In search of a romance (non comedy) to read as a reference. Suggestions?

Where does the chat take place? Is it on Google or here on the TB?

  11. Question: I prefer printing out scripts and reading them in a variety of places. How do YOU read scripts - print copy, computer screen or Kindle-type tablet? The Kindle Paperwhite sounds intriquing, but it's just too small for my desired experience. Is there a simple, 8 X 11 PDF reader out there?

Kindle DX and iPad. I prefer reading on the DX because it's easier on the eyes. However, the iPad is great for downloading scripts on the go and reading at night. I love not needing a book light.

  13. Question for working screenwriters here: What would be your key advice for career longevity? Ie. What do you think the difference is between the folk who get one big sale and/or a Black List mention and then flame out forever, and the folk who are actually putting their kids through college with screenwriting?

Oops, ran out of room. Anyway, keep writing and never turn your nose up at anything sent your way. Those eventually lead you to bigger and better jobs.

Keep writing! I have many friends who have sold specs, gotten assignments, had things produced, and then think they've made it. They slow down their writing process. They don't try as hard because they're no longer chasing the elusive dream. That's a huge mistake because you have to keep your name on everyone's tongues. You have to build ongoing relationships with execs, producers, your reps. You have to keep writing. It's been my experience that if you do, you kee...

  16. How is everyone? So, has MARROW been uploaded yet or no? And, Revenge films? any examples of good ones? Scripts and/or movies would be appreciated.

MARROW hasn't been added to the file exchange yet. I've been patiently waiting for it. :)

  17. Thinking of cranking out my latest rough draft in a remote location, huddle up in a hotel room or sublet/rental. What do you guys/gals/trolls think?

I do this often and love it. There are no distractions. It puts me in the frame of mind that I'm there to work and I get it done. You should definitely do it!

Mystery solved. I PM'd the original poster and discovered there was a problem uploading the file to the board. So, he removed the post.

I was looking forward to a read this weekend. The link in the email leads to a TBF error page. It's supposed to be the 4th draft - 11/16/10 written by Blair Erickson. Maybe if I wail like a banshee it'll reappear. ;)
