  1. Copyright question for you guys. I was thinking of (loosely) basing a script on one of Isaac Asimov's short stories which is, of course, copyrighted. Anyway I can use it? I'm not planning on stelling or anything, probably just put it on YouTube.

      Oh, sorry - just realized there was a character limit.

       

      Basically, I was going to say that non-commercial works are probably okay. Commercial works need the be on the level.

      @Axalon, to answer you question about whether you are doing it for profit, the short answer is no. Whether you are doing it for profit or not isn't a factor in determining whether there has been a copyright violation. It may factor into whether the copyright holder decides to bring a suit but that's a personal question, not a legal one. The big question really is whether someone is going to bring suit. If they aren't, then all the questions about copyright issues are academic....

      With what you're describing, you're probably on the low risk end of things. And in all likelihood, if there was an issue, you'd get a cease-and-desist and you take it down and move on with your life.
