  1. Ok not to sound batty or naive - but isn't Shane Black the most revolutionary writer of the past 30years or what?! Going thru "Long Kiss Goodnight" and I don't know what to do -- like do I write a spec right now or what? That's how amped I am by the ease and POWER of his wordplay...

Yeah, I felt the same way when I read LETHAL WEAPON for the first time.T here was definitely a paradigm shift in the way screenplays were written when he came upon the scene. The energy in his writing is infectious!

it's like your buddy who tells awesome stories is writing the shit! I see all these imposters out and then i go back to a script from 95 and it SONS all these newbies

  2. OK, gonna do 5 micro reviews in a week as soon as i wrap up this James Bond/Lord of the Rings (director's cut) blu-ray marathon... sounds like alot but i'm halfway in - so by top on next week i will review some spec/sales/oldies - and it won't be PC :-)

  3. Ok, so realistically mods (sorry Red), when will the library be back? I had several scripts I "virtually earmarked" to look at over holiday and -- wham, no mo' library man... I'm just saying tho...

  4. Ok...shit got real. Will Smith in title role if "Django Unchained" -- Tarantino is a BEAST. Gonna be unlike ANYTHING in theaters.

@boyno: Will's people can't be that dumb as to not give QT precedence in this case. Besides all the N-bombs dropped at an Invasion of Normandy pace -- there;s NOTHING in this script to deter him from KILLING IT!

With Christophe Waltz, and Samule Jackson (as Stephen i assume) + Bob Richardson as DP + QT's ear for good tunes = #WINNING...BIG TIME.

Shiiiiiit -- i'm gonna read it again just so i can imagine that cast!

But Idris Elba could be dope too...

Saw it again today. Dare I say: instant-classic? Btw Cranston rocked!

      Elliott79

      It was very good.

Hints of Mann, De Palma, Hillcoat, Soderberg, Hill, Andrew Dominik etc...

  7. Pete Postlethwaite -- BRILLIANT FUCKING ACTOR... Just reflecting on how ill he was... Watching "Usual Suspects" now -- Kobayashi killin'em! His last year on earth he dd "Inception", "The Town", and "Clash of the Titans"... Don't get me started on "In the Name of the Father"... RIP

    1. StringerBell

      StringerBell

He was one of my favorites. Just awesome to watch.

  8. posted a review on the epicly hilarious "Frank or Francis" aka Charlie Kaufman's latest...

      Elliott79

      Anyone fancy sharing it?

  9. Read "Grim Night"... Had me until about 80 pages in, then i just wanted it to end already. I hope they didn't pay american dollars for this thing... Even though the $ is worth nothing nowadays... No but seriously, this could make a semi-decent film... ergh...i guess.

So yes, it was actually bringing in a judgement about how I view your script taste. But positively

    3. SeeriousTimes

      SeeriousTimes

yeah, i did find myself wanting it to end already around that time.

I think the concept rox way more than the actual script -- which I thought ranged from cliche to alright.

      Cyber Hater

      yessir, Mr Seerious!

  10. read "Uprising" just now... Kick Ass... and as i'm enjoying it, i'm like "this would be a killer Vin Diesel vehicle..." Then i realize David Twohy wrote all my fav Diesel flicks (Riddick being in my top 20 "can watch anytime" list)... Is this just a spec??? Don't see anything on imdbpro about a sale

      Cyber Hater

    2. admin

      admin

Not sure who it originated with, but Twohy was one of the writers to do a draft (Charles Leavitt and Brad Caleb Kane after him). It' still in "development" though not active, and Twohy has nothing to do with it anymore (which is disheartening). According to studiosystem, Columbia has it, with Wolfgang Petersen still attached to direct, and Red Wagon producing. But still... no Twohy.

  11. Read"Four Kings of Ruin" - wow Chad st John laid a turf with this one... And he's directing it! I expected more/better from him

Man you are impossible to please. Really really really tough critic. Would have been a great reviewer at CG if I didn't have to kill it.

    2. electroglodyte

      electroglodyte

Could you post the script in File Exchange please? Curious to see what a Chad St. John "turf" looks like... :-)

    3. Cyber Hater

      Cyber Hater

@ boyno - we still might be able to do it...

  12. Reading "Expulsion"... HUGE

  13. reading "Hellified"... it it just me or does everyone come from the Shane Black school of "Holy Shit" action line style?

Stalked out on pg65 -- watching the "extended version" of "The Town" screener... WAY better than theatrical version -- THIS is a real movie

    3. electroglodyte

      electroglodyte

What did you think was better about it? Seen both, liked both, but thought most of the cuts for theatrical version were astute.

    4. Cyber Hater

      Cyber Hater

Too many holes in theatrical cut, extended made it a legit gangster film...

  15. Really?! Peter Pan now?! This town sucks!

    2. boynotorious

      boynotorious

Seriously. Could you take any longer. I am wondering if I should bother reading this thing at this point. It's kinda bulky.

    3. Cyber Hater

      Cyber Hater

@BoyNo: it's a personal challenge to read & review this...and it is bulky. Been busy with fam in town at Ritz, then i've been outlining my next script. Haven't read shit but the Hollywood Reporter in a cab home. Going to read & review thurs morn 100%

  17. S. Craig Zahler just had UTA send me Raw Knuckles, Gray Glass 1&2, The Discomfiture of Aldon Withers, and Corpus Chrome, INC. (unpublished novel). I can't say enough about his kindness and sincerity. It's been great chatting with him lately.

Nope. They're not for share. Sorry.

  18. Saw preview screening of "Immortals" -- some beautiful shots, but boy is this a bad version of "300", "Clash of the Titans", and "Gladiator"... Costumes ROCKED tho!

  19. Saw screener of "Unstopable" -- can't lie, not bad...

    1. RDMK

      RDMK

      I agree Cyber.

  20. Saw Transformers 3 IMAX 3D -- TRUE IMAX 6 STORY screen (68st and bway in NYC -- in case u wanted to know). Was PACKEDDDD an hr early! This is a STADIUM style theatre and it was FLOODED! Movie was actually very funny, Rosie was HOT, and all I could think during the building crash (trailer ain't shit): "how much did this ONE scene cost? $10-20Million??" The last half hr of this film is unreal. Gets blurry at times tho :-(

  21. So me and Boyno wanna do reviews for the community. Mods - set up another forum for reviews so we can get busy... I'm always reading new/old material and could up thoughts on it for community... Call it - we can be the "Internal Affairs" of scripts here lol Holler!

Shane Black will probably be at the Screenwriting Expo next year. Someone needs to walk by him and yell Chuck. If he turns around, we know the answer. Mystery solved!

      Cyber Hater

      Lol I'm with u brian

  23. So the official top 10 of'10 is as follows -- Toy Story 3, (tied) Social Network & Black Swan, Inception, and Animal Kingdom. TrueGritwasWAY overhyped -- not at all the best CohenBros film so far...

    1. Nic.Lishko

      Nic.Lishko

Gotta find a way to see Animal Kingdom...And it's not the best Coen film ever, but it's better than others in recent memory.

  24. So..."Super 8" + 6 story IMAX screen + packed crowd = good movie experience... PS the movie during the credits was hilarious
