Reading between the lines, I got the feeling he didn't want to mess up his chance to actually become a successful producer. I have no proof of that, it's just a guess - but if that's the case, can't say I blame him.

Perhaps giving too much credit here based on SS's past actions, but it could be a calculated move on his part - play the victim, find out if his detractors are in the minority w/i the industry and if so, come back at some point with business as usual and be even stronger in the eyes of his followers. If the opposition to his reviewing practices is real and hinders his chances at producing - then his followers see him as a victim of the system and applaud the change. Win win decision.

On Dec 8 Emily Blake started one of these SS threads. In it someone said SS was freaked out by a cease and desist letter. I think he got a C&D order like the one used to shut down that script trading library a few years ago.
