  1. Is this site going under? Just read that the news part of TB is getting shuttered?

Thanks for linking to the update, Rob. I will stay onboard for as long as TB is active, but as a precautionary measure, if anyone cares to PM me alternate communities for filing away as a fallback plan, I would surely appreciate it.

  2. Testing out the black list. Anyone have a really good experience with the site?

Any recent examples of BL success leading to sales, options, reps, etc? That is, is the site a smart avenue for writers with a strong piece of material yet no industry contacts? Trying to remember if guys like Dan Dollar utilized that route to make their entrance.

  3. I would just like an opinion on some, or a title, for the script I've been working on since I got my coverage back 3 months ago. The reader described it as Taken meets The Departed. It was called Black Sambas. Here we go: The Supremacy Project, Project Supremacy, Deeds of Deception, When Corruption was King, Bullets of the Dishonored, Once We Were Enemie to name a few. I will upload the 1st 50 pages tomaz. Would like people's thoughts. Must have done something right for the reader to X...

What fiction said. I quite like Black Sambas though. It's unique, and inspires an immediate mental image.

  4. I'm freaking out. I know this happens all the time, but I am about 1 or 2 months away from finishing a script that has the EXACT SAME CONCEPT as another project that was announced in the trades. I am very proud of this script and feel it is the best thing I have written. But I can already hear the rebuttals, and I don't want to waste my time working on something that seems to be dead out of the gate. What would you guys do?

(Also, for myriad reasons, try your best to resist the urge to read the other writer's take until you've crossed the finish line yourself. You're simply not being fair to yourself if you start comparing your work to that of another writer, especially mid-script. Protect your self-confidence.)

Finish it out. If for nothing else, folks will be more inclined to read your take on the concept in order to see how it stacks up with the other project. Adding a great writing sample to your arsenal is always a plus.

  6. Best scripts with narration? Looking for a true masterclass in how narration should be executed. Prefer examples that are actually available here but whatever. Bring it!

  7. I'm not always the biggest Bradley Cooper fan, but he was terrific in American Sniper.

Agreed. He was fantastic. Aside from one's stance on the war in general, the film was devoid of any political narrative. Thought the missions/action felt a bit too much like a video game, but all-in-all I thought it was well done.
