  1. Someone just posted on my facebook that they found out the Dark Knight Rises is going to a staggering 2 hrs and 45 mniutes long. Talk about ending the legend in an epically long way.

If it's good then the long running time won't matter but I think too many films nowadays are way longer than they should be...

      sbbn

I would have been surprised if it was any shorter.

How does one stack cars up in a huge pile like it shows in the latest spot?

  2. Apparently a minute-long teaser trailer for The Man of Steel will be shown before the Dark Knight Rises. Will wait with intrigue to see what they've done. Although, there's only going to be a quick glimpse of Henry Cavill in costume as Superman.

Have to say, as interested as I am in seeing what they do with Superman, I'm MUCH more interested in seeing Dark Knight Rises. Superman has a long ways and a near impossible task to catch up with what they've done with the Batman reboot.

I'm a little tired of reboots. I thought they should have let Singer build on what he started. Not every story or superhero needs to be "darker" and "edgier". And pretty soon they will be "rebooting" every year with new talent, thinking that's all they have to do and audiences will just back again and again like lemmings.

  3. Got my script coverage back a couples days ago. Been working on advised areas most of the day. I just want to get it done asap. Went mental, when Final draft decided it wanted to die on me. Annoyed I had to re-write the previous 20 minutes work again

ALWAYS press ctrl + S aka save...every time you write something new. Do it like a habit. Like a superstition. And always keep a thumb drive next to you -- every 30min or so back up the whole file in case your comp crashes or something retarded like that

  4. G.I. Joe 2 Being pushed back to march next year in the states, and god knows when here in the UK is ridiculous. just so they can add 3d, which hasn't been that successful if im honest. And basing the fact James Cameron did for titanic is silly. even more so when it cost 18 mill and 2 yrs of development. on another note, send my script off to tracking board for full coverage. wish me luck.

    1. Nic.Lishko

      Nic.Lishko

If I had to guess Hasmap, I would imagine it was because of the really crappy numbers Battleship had (in the states) as to why they're pushing it back. The 3d aspect just makes it weak...

Also good luck on the coverage. It was incredibly valuable for me :D

  5. was very impressed with trailer for Skyfall which aired here in the UK on BBC1's this morning. Empireonline now has up on their site. its glorious.

That is some stunning cinematography! Now, if the action coreography is coherent/awesome, and the plot worthwhile, this might just be the best of the new Bond series yet.

  6. I was really pleased to hear that Prometheus is going to be a Smashing 15 here in the UK and R-rated in the US. Means no cuts or edits. It will be viewed the way Ridley intended it to be.

Amen! Can't wait. The second on my list (in terms of release dates) of what I expect to be amazing movies this summer.

Smashing ended up in there by accident because my stupid phone wanted include a predictive txt at the last second.

  7. Got the Art of Avengers from amazon today. Quite impressed, only left Arizona on 2nd and was here in the UK on my door at half 12. Currently reading the excerpts from the script. I love the way Joss Whedon writes, especially the fight battle. The artwork is stunning. But if I'm honest, the main reason this appealed to me was because it had several pieces of the script and seemed almost the only way to read it.

I wasn't going to get it because I bought the Captain America one last year. But when I read on Forbidden Planet's website that it had excerpts from the script, like the Kick-Ass one did, I knew I had to get it soley for that.Marvel don't usually allow that kind of thing. Guess it was the Whedon factor. You get a small chunk, not much, mainly segments from the final battle, including "better clench up Legolas" and "And Hulk...Smash" scenes. But somethings better th...

  8. Got the Art of Avengers from amazon today. Quite impressed, only left Arizona on 2nd and was here in the UK on my door at half 12. Currently reading the excerpts from the script. I love the way Joss Whedon writes. "Gimmie a lift?" "better clench up Legolas" As Iron Man grabs Hawkeye and fires into the sky.

  9. Did anyone notice at the end of the Dark Knight Rises trailer Batman and Selina(Catwoman) appear to trying to evade two homing missiles.

    1. specwriter

      specwriter

Yeah, and I'm not even going to try to speculate about what it is or where it's coming from. Nolan's already driving me crazy with so many images in his trailers!

      mikeyP_73

Does anybody else think Joseph Gordon Levitt's character will become the new batman? Or in the movie take over if Bruce gets his back taken out...?

    3. mikeyP_73

      mikeyP_73

Oh and in that last scene "this isn't a car..." It actually looks like it's JGL not Christian Bale in the flying Batwing

  10. Just wanted to on the script coverage. Is $94 + and an extra 50 or 100 for the rush option? Or can you just select the rush options?

  11. The Avengers! WOW! Just WOW! What a brilliant, sometimes comedic and entertaining film! god bless you Joss Whedon, you are the man! Will defo be watching it again.

The overly-lit cinematography, and some of the creature design (specifically the lead Demon Minion dude, whoever he was) made the whole thing feel like a Power Rangers episode.

    3. Hasmap

      Hasmap

Well, of course everyone rightly has there own opinion. But my only quibbles where it was to long and the Aliens were a bland piece of the movie and seemed like they were just thrown in. But my main concern was can the right amount of so many main characters(which wasn't thought possible). And Whedon did, he gave each one enough screen time. And finally the Hulk was done justice after previous efforts: one a complete piece of trash and one so-so film. As long as character are portrayed tr...

The first half was almost walk-out tedious.

  12. with the script coverage, do i just send out the script and everything get an analysis, or do i have to write the logline, character descriptions?

    1. RazorBlade1968

      RazorBlade1968

I just gave them a log line with the script. That was it. The coverage (if you get the full package) will come back to you with THEIR logline (the way a reader would logline it for their boss) and the coverage, etc. They will actually do the character breakdown, etc. You just need your script and the logline.

    2. admin

      admin

I would just email them. I know when you get coverage the coverage email address is all over the pages. But, I'm sure it's like any studio service. Just send a script and your done.

    3. dietgreentea

      dietgreentea

All you need to provide is the script. Anything else is optional (and unnecessary). The coverage will give you the reader's logline, summary, character breakdown, comments and final scoring grid.

  13. Wahoo, my script is finally finished! Everything has been checked and is present and correct. And the final amount is 92 pages. And Iam very happy with it. This is the first time I thought its done, what do I do now?

With all due respect. Sit on it for two weeks. Stop worrying about length and what's "present and correct." Read it again. Go to the bank. Take out one hundred dollars and go find the nearest homeless person you can find. Sit them down, offer them fifty bucks, they'll ask for more, ergo the hundy. Make them read it right there on the bus bench. Watch their face for significant "tells" regarding your "rising action" and the more subtle aspects of character arc....

  14. Found out the other day that a guy who every now-and-then(not that often though) comes in , is unit director, second, i think, comes into the video store I work in at weekend. Apparently he worked on Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and told me and my manager he has just completed working on Keanu Reeves' new film 47 Ronin

Have you seen Mike Le's story of being hired by Owen Wilson from his job working at Blockbuster? http://tinyurl.com/6modqa5

  15. Judging by the trailer, Dark Shadows isn't at all what I thought it would be. I was expecting, a dark gothic tale, with a little bit of horror thrown in for good measure. But it seems Depp, Burton and co have a more campish, comedic take. I doesn't bother me either way, as Iike the look of it and will watch it regardless. Just abit surprised by the direction of the film.

How are you surprised? Burton has been mostly camp lately.

  16. Does anyone know if the script for the Avenger's is out there? I've seen about three pages. Not totally looking to spoil it for myself, really. Just wondered if it was out there!

Hey guys, lets keep these in the ISO - or in the very least, up here is fine, just be sure you actually put an ISO up too - otherwise when ppl go through to update, they'll have no idea youre looking for it.

  17. Found out yesterday that one of mates has a mate who had wrote and directed a film called Travellers shown at Cannes in the last couple of years, which had a cameo from Charlie Boorman. He thinks I Should let him take a look at my script. What do you think? The same mate, who is also doing a Graphic novel himself, is going to do some artwork and stills for me.

  18. Just saw the new Spider-man trailer. CANNOT WAIT. I had high hopes, and it hasn't let me down. Already saw a six-minute reel last summer at big screen(a snipet of which is included in trailer where the Lizard bursts from the sewers in the girls bathroom, starlting two high schoolers). But all the new footage has made me even excited.

Have they drastically changed his origin story so that his father was developing a spider web or something related to spiders? If so, I find that troubling.

It can join Phantom Menace 3D in its midichlorian device. And my complete lack of interest. Zing!

  19. Watched Girl with the Dragon Tattoo today. And what a film it was. Easily, Daniel Craig's perfromance of his career. And Mara, was superb, and glad they made Lisbeth a younger than in the swedish v. So good, I went and bought the tripple-cd soundtrack from HMV afterwards. Don't buy st's very often.

  20. The new Dark Knight Rises trailer - Could thst be black gate prison that Wayne is in? Wayne is also using the support of a walking cane at the start. Also didn't expect the hovercraft at the end to fit into Nolan's vision of the world. And, maybe jumping the gun here, but the"blue background" with the hooded figure on the roof of wayne manor. could it be a cameo for Robin or Nightwing. The 8 year gap would be more than enough to train a protege for Gotham(Robin) or Bludhaven(Ni...

Or take a page directly from the comics, and have Bane break Batman's back... I'm feeling like thats where we're going.

    4. mikeyP_73

      mikeyP_73

I think they should break Wayne's back and then new superheroes are born as a result. The future becomes Dystopic and then 3-5 years from now we'll have a Batman Beyond Trilogy... Bale plays an old Bruce Wayne (and young thanks to Flashbacks) who is in a wheelchair and trains a new protege to become the next Batman

  21. Was very suprised to see Aiden Gillen appear in the prologue. He always have a nasty streak in whatever the role he's play: 12 Rounds, Shanghai Knights, Blitz. But good for him on getting into Dark Knight Rises, even if it's a small role

Is he the guy who played the young Mayoral candidate in season three of The Wire?

  22. Watched Devil's Double the other day. And what good film it was, too. I thought Dominic Cooper was outstanding the way he portrayed both Uday's. Could an Oscar nod be out of the question?

  23. Just quickly blitzed through some casting sides(about 20 pages) for Evil Dead remake. It definitly seems like a lot is being borrowed from the original, with some new bits thrown in here and there. I do like a part when the girl looks into the mirror, pokes her tongue out and is horrifed when it splits in two like a lizards. Seems like they've just started looking to cast the main 3 roles, David, Olivia and Eric.

  24. Just watching Transformers: Dark of the moon and noticed a mistake(timer 8mins 54 secs) when Rosie huntington is walking up the stairs, why is she wearing a white baseball cap. Then when she enters the room holding the bunny, the cap has magically disappeared!

  25. Just seen simply scripts.com have added the links for the companies who want their Scripts for your consideration for Oscars, Including Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy(Dec 17 2010 draft), Martha Marcy May Marlene(undated), Machine Gun Preacher(30 Sept 2010, Final Shooting), Pariah(Undated), Shame(undated) by Steve McQueen,Beginners(Undated), Bridesmaids(undated), The Debt(mar 29, 2009), The Descendants(Apr 11, 2010 draft), Jane Eyre(Undated), Warrior and Win Win.
