It was the first Netflix flick I've seen where I wish I could've seen it on the big screen

I thought it was a complete mess. IMO, it was all surface and no depth. I didn't care about a single character in it.

  2. Two fairy tales about writers: "The Words" and "Stuck In Love" (formerly titled "Writers")

  3. Scooped. Sigh. http://forum.tracking-board.com/index.php?/topic/12816-rubber-tank-squad-by-david-boito/?hl=+rubber++tank++squad They secured the rights to the documentary film that aired on PBS called "The Ghost Army." I have been working on this script for years and did my research before the documentary came out.

I've been working on a similar idea about Juan Pujol Garcia who was the only person in world history to receive both the Iron Cross and the OBE due to his work as a double agent who came up with the idea to fool the Abwher and Hitler himself regarding Normandy. The 23rd Special Troops were a part of his con.

I agree get it out there. A solid writing sample is a solid writing sample.

Does "set up" mean any money has changed hands, or just that they've attached a producer who will then shop it to buyers?

So what's a shopping agreement? Giving someone control of a property "to shop it exclusively" for some window of time?

    3. admin

Shopping agreements are very common, though so much is verbal these days, or just in an agreement via email that you don't see an actual document that often. It just gives an exclusive window to someone to "shop" your material. It's usually short term (3-6 months), as anything more should warrant an option. These are used by producers big and small both, and should not be seen as something undermining an option or interest in your work. I've seen places with studio deals d...

deals do an email agreement of a few paragraphs for a 3-month exclusive window. The shortest form of these you could compare to (though completely different) is when a producer takes territories on specs. (exclusive to take to Fox, Sony, etc.)

  10. Anyone have any thoughts on the importance of having your own website with credits, loglines, contact info etc.?

Agree with DTB - Websites for writers are pointless. No one is searching for writers via google (aside from other writers). And sending links along in query emails, they never get clicked. Focus on the script, instead of the web, I think.

What if you made a bunch of concept art for your script? What would be the best way to showcase that?

All your focus should be on the script. All of it.
