Wish I was able to make it. Next time in town though I'd like to set up drinks with those who are available!

  2. They Came Together is a better Saves the Cat than Saves the Cat. Incredibly hilarious. If you love Stella, Naked Gun, Hot Shots, etc. you will love this.

  3. If you ever need a good lesson on dialogue, go to a coffee shop/McDonalds in a small town and just listen to how the old folks gossip.

Thanks eric! Things are good! I'm an over thinker so life can be taxing. And yeah Spec, such a damn good movie. Any other year but Gravity it would have won best cinematography

  8. Need a comedy spec to read. Tired of reading sci-fi. I mean, I'm not, because I love sci-fi, but I need to read more comedies. Any to recommend?

If you want to take a gander at a first draft of a comedy spec I'm looking to revise, I'd appreciate any thoughts you have.

It's a Rom-com called ROMCOM. You can guess the rest.

      It's here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/oe3h66y7v4rzbj4/romcom-GERNGROSS.pdf.

Feel free to indulge or ignore at your discretion.

The funniest scripts I've read include Wain and Showalter's 'They Came Together', Johnny Rosenthal's 'Iron Jack' and the pilot for 'Hello Ladies', which is significantly funnier (and edgier) than the filmed version.

ooops - got your Q wrong, CB . . . you're talking about taking a script and pitching it to a company to turn it into a ride?

    3. Foz90

      Foz90

In my head, I'm now imagining the idea that all these films that have a ride tie-in are only part of a huge marketing drive to help pump up the publicity for the rollercoaster.

"We've got this great idea for a SAW ride. We're in touch with these youngsters to develop a film franchise and in ten years, this rollercoaster should be good to go."

What I mean is, she has an idea for a ride. Who can she pitch her ride to?

I like to think of the 'bad guys closing in' aspect of STC not so much in literal terms, but rather as an increasing sense of pressure being applied to the hero. In this case, it's the ever-present 'ticking clock' by which Lou must come up with something new and better each night before 6am.

    3. rywold

      rywold

Yeah, the discussion of character often gets lost in how people view Snyder's beat sheet, but fundamentally his sheet is about character metamorphosis. The thing that's different about Nightcrawler is the metamorphosis is really fucking bleak and scary. The beats are still there. But we don't see very much of this kind of negative metamorphosis on screen anymore (at least, not since the late 60's - mid 70's). Most of the time, Hollywood characters change for the bette...

    4. rywold

I didn't watch it in IMAX as there is not cinema near me like that. I watched the regular 3D, and it was awful. One of the worst films I have seen in the last 12 months. Easy.

  21. 20 pages into the Raider's conference, Lucas sounds logical and Spielberg sounds like Lucas does now.

  22. Query letters sent. If Henchman comes across your desk today, give it a chance. I promise it'll be worth your time.
