  2. My buddy is the great grand son of the lyricist for The Wizard of Oz and is doing a movie about the music behind the film. Check out his kickstarter! https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/the-sound-of-oz

      Icarus

That is So. Cool. Fun fact: Yip Harburg recycled a lyric that went unused in the film but which survives in the stage production-- "Follow the rainbow over the stream; follow the fellow who follows his dream"-- for a song in "Finnian's Rainbow." This is the only instance I'm aware of in which a lyricist plagiarized himself.

  3. One of the first scripts I ever tackled was an adaptation of Ocarina of Time. Netflix, give me the job.

A lot of my fan stuff is on my co-writer's old PC. If I can get him to find the files, I'd love to upload it.

Another tip -- When asked if you want to overwrite, always check WHICH file is being overwritten. ie. Moving a new file to a USB stick, but you rush, and put the old file over the new one by mistake.

  9. Reading Situation Comedy. Note to author: if you're going to make a note that you're changing the format, but keep forgetting to change said format, it's kinda hard to know what's going on in the script.

  10. I can not say enough good things about The Swimsuit Issue. Might be the best of the year for me.

ideafeast -- I think the idea is that Hollywood isn't producing nearly as many new stars as it used to.

Chris Pratt and Benedict Cumberbatch are anomalies.

  13. The Knick is such a damn good show. Probably my favorite of the year. Only 3 eps in, but this would be my reason for buying cinemax.

Another mystery is why writers believe that someone who has chosen anonynomity is a) in the position they claim to be or B) will help launch their career.

      David Fakrikian

Guys, producers just want to make sure their movie get made. They would do originals if originals would get financed. They don't, so they rehash things instead.

I believe at the 30th anniversary screening of Terminator, Gale Anne Hurd said they'd never be able to make Terminator today because it's not based on an existing IP.
