      This only kind of responsive to your question but the game The Last of Us is some of the best post-apocalyptic writing I've ever seen. Don't discount it because it's a game. The story, the dialogue (and the acting) is phenomenal and a great lesson in "THIS is how you should write." And they nail the whole "tell more by saying less" thing that so many writers struggle with.
