Essentially - I'm curious as to what everyone thinks on film school (for directing, etc.). If you have interests in film outside of writing, perhaps that's the better option?

Good comments by all. I have an MFA from 'SC, but I got mine when film school was hot in the early 90s. The foundation was incredibly valuable, but I'll join the chorus and say that in 2013, it's not worth the price of admission. Literally. However, in addition to reading excellent, good and bad scripts, you must find a mentor. Someone who isn't a relative and is experienced, and will guide you through the treacherous waters without an agenda. Good luck

DS -- I think with the explosion of cheaper digital cameras and free outlets like YouTube, directing school may be even more anachronistic than writing school. People are making movies, editing on computer and putting it out there. Access has democratized filmmaking, in both good and bad ways IMO.
