  1. As great as so much television is these days, and as addictively as I tune in to some of it, I tend not to re-watch it. Yet I do re-watch movies. I'm curious if others have similar tendencies. And thoughts on why that is (or isn't). Assuming this is the case for others, is it something as simple as production value? Or does it go deeper? Does it have to do with the story mechanics? Like, in order to go on this 2 hour journey, movies are super-compressed with idea and emotion, and...

      It's an extremely interesting question. My only answer is very basica and what's already been said really. A film is a complete entity - beginning, middle and end...with the energy, momentum, catharsis, thrill, an entire story can deliver. In TV, each episode (no matter how amazing) is just one part of the whole and therefore not as satisfying a rewatch.

      And, yes, there's a certain journey you're on when first watching a TV series - with a drawn-out tension and "unknown future" factor - that can never be replicated when you watch it again.

      I watched ER religiously for almost it's entire run. Never watched an episode twice. (Although the one where Lucy & Carter got stabbed was one for the TV Hall Of Fame)
