  1. I know live theater hardly EVER translates well to video - that said, here's a vid of a 10-minute play I wrote that's been put on stage here in the States and in Dubai (so far). The sound quality ain't THX-quality, but if you are looking for something different to watch:

Thanks, CB. Was a personal piece . . .if that's not blatantly obvious with the ending.

  2. "LOVE" - short I wrote - just won Best Film at Southampton Film Week. Not the Oscars - but still nice cool that the film's out there making its way in the world.

  3. Any up and coming hungry filmmakers out there? Cool contest that results in a feature film credit: http://www.50kissesfilm.com/ Yes . . . I posted this because my script is in there - but won't say which one - just wanted to point out the opportunity to anyone looking to gain experience. Cheers.

  4. Anybody else watch THE LANDING (was referenced in Friday's 'approved Friday post'. If not - you should contact the guy who sent the email. Just got done watching it - really a superb short.

CT - I forgot it had been posted in the Hello My Name Is - at least the link from the trailer. But you can contact Josh (writer/director) for the full link.

Thanks, Rob. I sent him a message about it. Couldn't find the link on TB - didn't even think about that section!

I'm a big analytics guy. But it doesn't have much place in selling to a studio/producer, IMO. They buy based on quality of scripts + IP, relationships (talent attachments), what's worked in the immediate past for them and competitors. Everything else is just noise.

Scriptnotes podcast spent a good deal talking about this lately. They certainly were not impressed.

Nice Twitter thread, Rob. Mazin's umbrage on this tool is classic. AI a long way from interpreting varying data points into meaningful insight.

  6. BAM. Nailed down beginning sequence and ending scenes today . . . now just gotta figure out how to put the Oreo filling in this bizzatch!

Better to glue them than to nail them as you will most likely have to move them around in the future. But yeah, having those bookends is like fishing with a pole, a line, and a hook as opposed to a great big bucket of good intentions. Brought to you by Bullheads Bait Shop. "We got crawlers!"

Thanks chando - no, just wrote it. It was directed by London filmmaker - Phil Peel. He shot it all with a hacked Panasonic GH2 - really happy with how it turned out.

  19. How often is it that a trailer is made out of a 3 - 4 min. film? Rhetorical question. Just was fun to see that one was made out of the short I wrote ("Love"): http://vimeo.com/54597715 "Love" makes its big screen debut at the Edinburgh Short Film Festival in a week or so (June 14th at The Granary).

  24. My short script that was one of the winning pieces for the 50 Kisses Competition has been made into a pretty cool film: http://www.50kissesfilm.com/movies/love-by-grindstone-films/ Yes - I'm probably a tad biased - but fun to see my words on the page turned into something visual
