Academy Awards or True Detective... Well, that's an easy choice. I'll find out who won the awards on twitter or something.

As great as so much television is these days, and as addictively as I tune in to some of it, I tend not to re-watch it. Yet I do re-watch movies. I'm curious if others have similar tendencies. And thoughts on why that is (or isn't). Assuming this is the case for others, is it something as simple as production value? Or does it go deeper? Does it have to do with the story mechanics? Like, in order to go on this 2 hour journey, movies are super-compressed with idea and emotion, and...

Let's get back to the heart of Michael's question. Yeah we all have TV shows we'd watch again, but what is it about movies that makes them so palatable time and time again? Any semiologist, deconstructionist theorists out there with an answer? Neurologists? Gastroenterologists? Why one form lends itself to multiple viewing and the other doesn't? I think it has to do with Scale vs. time. And weed. And that chick who wants to see Princess Bride a hundred times while she…....

TBers who are into/follow politics, how plausible were the events in season 2 of House of Cards?

THAT is a fascinating question. I feel the same way. As much as I love shows like True Detective or Breaking Bad, I feel little compulsion to see repeat episodes, whereas I watch the Godfather and other films at least once a year. I need to think that one through. I hope this spurs and interesting conversation. My first thought is that TV is episodic. One experiences the whole at the end of the season or in some cases several seasons, whereas a movie is a self contained event/experience.

Watching True Detective is like watching someone bleed onto the page and screen. Just amazing work.

What is the best Drama, Thriller or Action spec that you have read recently, that is still available?

Meeting went great. Got some awesome notes and some hope for the coming weeks. Good night to all!

A famous actor goes on the run after he comes under suspicion for being connected (usually by six degrees) to every murder victim in the country. Kevin Bacon is... GUILTY BY ASSOCIATION!

This biopic trend is really wearing me out.

This site is going to get me fired. Especially the chat. Thanks Obama.

So, after all the hoopla over the Gawker leeking HATEFUL EIGHT, I'm surprised that there isn't a thread of reaction to the script. I just finished it and am composing my thoughts... Very QT (can he rip off himself?) but in the end it felt a little, well, "light." So, if Samuel L, Jackson plays Maj. Warren (way too easy, and a rather boring choice), Christoph Waltz plays Oswaldo (?),Tim Roth plays Bob (?), then Bruce Dern must be John Ruth, maybe???

Just posted the review in W-I-P for the lowest rated Black List script I've ever seen. (HINT: It's mine).

Looking for recommendations for good "chase" flicks. Any suggestions?

I posted a book I just finished a rewrite on in WIP. Details are there. Would love some opinions before making any moves.

The lack/snub? of names and films this year is mindnumbingly confusing. I mean, The Book Thief gets one nom, original score (John Williams)? Michael B. Jordan gets nada? I guess this IS the most subjective industry.
