    If you are an aspiring screenwriter who wants desperately to tell the stories that pop in your head at all hours of the day, the FUCKING IGNORE all this nonsense, about what is a sale and what isn't. Jesus. The people talking about this the most, won't be around in two years. Get a bottle. Stand in a lightning storm and pray you capture it. Or just write great stuff. You do the math.

      hink people are saying, woah, woah, woah, pump your brakes guys, don't drink the koolaid here. Too many people tend to already blindly follow the herd in this digital age. Lets be smart enough to make our own decisions. Should people research and know their industry - absolutely. Will an option being reported as a sale, or a sale reported as an option, or any combination effect another writers ability to succeed. Absolutely not.

      I moved out to LA, because I got into a fellowship and every blog post I read said "If you're serious about writing YOU NEED TO BE HERE." I was serious about my writing for 9 years, but what changed was losing my job, not getting a new one and having a large amount of time to write.

      The funny thing about being here (so far imo) is the lack of actual face to face meeting. Everything is on the dang phone! And I love writing, but the past 6 months were honestly me hoping for a sale to allow me to stay out here. Now that 100% of my funds are up, no prospect of 9-5 work yet and a wedding in the fall it makes no sense to continue to stay out here and borrow against the bank.
