So, Homeland - I hate you. Incidentally, make the identity of the CIA mole more obvious. All the subtlety of a punch to the balls.

I'd watch character drama, but there needs to be a clear mission from the start, none of this "surprise twist 30% of the way through the story." Make the objectives clear, then put in the character drama. Character should be the focus anyway, but this was poorly handled. It's not Dexter levels yet, but we'll see.

AVClub: "Seen on a traditional movie screen, Gravity looks like a near triumph, compromised just slightly by the tidiness of its dramatic trajectory. Stretch the film across a bigger canvas, however, and those flaws become tiny specks, dwarfed by the enormity of Cuarón’s aesthetic achievement."

finally saw a trailer for Ironside... wheel chair cliches galore

Great ending. Much better than "cut to black..."

All you Breaking Bad fans will probably enjoy this article: http://www.forbes.com/sites/allenstjohn/2013/09/27/how-a-teenage-cancer-patient-changed-the-ending-of-breaking-bad/

In preparation for the final episode, I rewatched the Breaking Bad pilot. It's amazing how well written that show is from the get-go. THAT is how a pilot is supposed to be written.

Dustin, it ends tonight. If your internet can handle it, spoof a US IP and buy it off of iTunes. So worth it. That said, tonight could result in mass rioting, suicides and just general internet bitching. I can only hope that since Dexter was so bad, the universe will reward us with an excellent finale.

You know who needs more work? John Barrowman. Very entertaining. Need more Torchwood in my life.

whoarethoseguys: I watched Children of Earth before Series 1 and 2 - no foreknowledge required as it's pretty easy to figure out the relationships. Bits of information you should know going in: The lead, Captain Jack, is immortal. Torchwood is a (poorly kept) secret government program tasked with eliminating alien threats. That's all you need to know. That said, it rewards fans with little nods to the first two series.

GOTHAM: A Batman show without the Batman. Intriguing idea, but they've got so much going against them right now it seems silly to even attempt.

The only star wars prequels that are canon are the ones i've outlined in my mind. I'll say this: the villains are interesting, but a response to Batman's presence. He's the light that draws the insects out at night. This series would probably just focus on the deterioration of Gordon's faith and principles while seeing the blatant corruption going on around the city...which could really just be any cop show. I want a reason for this to be set in the Batman universe, even i...

Fellow TB'ers Dominic Morgan and Matt Harvey who recently sold HYPERARIC and are soon to sell THE CONTROLLER are in town and I had the pleasure of their company last night in Venice. Couple great guys and very talented writers.

Don't be bashful, send us your jokes! I promise not to tell anyone you wrote them. http://www.deadline.com/2013/09/jimmy-fallon-tonight-show-writers-complaint/

Prisoners comes out tomorrow. Should I read the script then see the movie or vice versa?

Saw a promo for NBC's new series IRONSIDE. I initially thought it was one of those fake Adult Swim commercials.

Breaking Bad's final two episodes are 75 minutes each. So I'm betting 5 extra minutes of story, 10 extra minutes of commercials? Hope AMC's making a pretty penny off those ad sales.

I don't think a episode of television has ever made me feel this emotionally numb.
