  1. Dallas Buyers Club worth the price of admission??

    1. dsjones

It was a very well done film.

  2. Need help: Can anyone tell me of a movie or tv episode scene where a judge has had to pass down a maximum sentence even when he or she didn't want to because that is what the law requires. Need some reference for a scene I'm writing.

sbbn I was getting all into the responses and then read yours and started cracking up.

    3. zkendall

dsjones in fact the judge is the center of this. Im trying tp pull of a sort of irony that will connect in the coming scene.

    4. zkendall

as for dallas buyers clubs i have been anxious to take some time out of my busy life to catch that flick. Seems great.

[FOX] “Atlantis” mystery drama revolving around two estranged brothers who embark on a mission to find lost city of Atlantis using state of the art vessel.

    2. zkendall

    3. Pompalompa

  4. Damn, one of my favorite guilty pleaures is in peril now. Fast and Furious looses one of the two people that actually matter to the franchise. R.I.P. Paul Walker.

  5. anyone recommend seeing the counselor?

    1. Michael L

      Michael L

I'd recommend. I liked. I'm still thinking about things a week later (in a good way). That said, I have some questions, and there were things I maybe wasn't loving, but not to the excoriating extent many in the press seem to have not been loving. Or the dude next to my table in the Thai restaurant. Who was not loving rather loudly.

Let me add my recommendation. McCarthy breaks all the screenwriting rules, but he can get away with it because he's Cormac McCarthy. He makes big blocks of dialogue crackle with life, where other writers would bring the show to a grinding halt. You'll be so engrossed in the interesting characters that you won't notice that they aren't doing much.

    3. Zmanx

Yes. It is being crucified in the press but time will judge it much more graciously.

ddollar. Jaco know alot about this too?

npquinn. I'm worried that spin off isnt even gonna compare to the original.

    3. ddollar

zack, jaco was a lawyer, i believe he still may be technically. he'll probably chime in at some point here.

    4. Jaco

      Yes, I am a lawyer.

Feel free to pm your question. Or, like the other lawyer said - start a thread in one of those thingies over on the left side of the screen.

  8. Question. Had the original iPad for four years. Going to be upgrading. Seems like the iPad mini is more portable and still great for reading. Thoughts?

    1. sbbn

Everyone raves that it's great for reading screenplays BUT BUT BUT I would wait if I were you because rumor is they are coming out with iPad mini 2 later this year, significantly upgraded display and supposedly a hefty price cut. I'm going to pick up the iPad mini but I'm waiting until 2 comes out.

    2. Galleria.Pictures

I love the larger screen of the original but then I use it for writing in the park ^_^

    3. nazardo

Or you can wait for new iPad to come out to get current iPad for cheaper (refurbished). Either way might be good idea to wait for new models to hit. Mini too small for me but as sbbn says others love it.

  9. i really want to read extant!

  10. anyone else hearing about mickey fischer and his pilot. Trying to understand how he got it in front of someone. also want to read it.

    1. zkendall

thanks johnson. as usual they always leave things out such as trackingb contest. that was what i mean by getting it out there. Thanks.

    2. chandolaswinter

It's called EXTANT -sounds really good. About a sci fi family drama about a couple raising a child who is AI and she's pregnant with an alien baby. Would love t read :)

    3. typistolero

It's floating around. I'd expect it here soon.

Anything where you are around weird people and earn tips. Bartender, waiter, male escort ...

    4. dsjones

Government. Everyone's complacent so your work is rarely ever expected on time. And it's so easy that you can knock it out of the park in a few hours, casually have it trickle in during the rest of the day while spending most of your time writing/outlining. plus you can get a pension, which is cool.

  12. Hey guys. Could use your help rewiring my thought process. I have always had this fear that if I don't watch alot of TV and Movies all the time, that I will get stale in writing. Yet when I get busy that means I have to allow for writing and watching. I think in these instances I should focus more on the writing, but then I fear my writing will suffer? Thoughts? Wisdom?

Also, stealing from novels is much easier and less noticeable. I am cannibalizing the fuck out of Raymond Chandler and I know that 90% of Hollywood won't notice. ;-)

Do whatever inspires you is what I say.

Read outside of your genre also. You'll be surprised by how it will spark your creativity.

  15. Anyone have recommendations on good action thrillers to read?

    1. NoahTG

MOTOR CITY by Chad St. John. Zero dialogue. Literally, zero dialogue.

  16. Hey guys. Im wondering what are some good new pilots to read. Read REM last year and loved it but have been reading features since. Any suggestions?

    2. zkendall

  17. Anyone able to get their hands on "Son of a Bitch" yet? Her twitter has some great humor. Curious to see if it translates on to the screen.

    1. sbbn

+1 - love to see the screenplay.

  18. Just read "Maggie." liked it.

I want to do but I doubt I ever will. JJ watermarks his things like crazy and only paper copies are on un-copyable red paper.

  20. hey roark. Thanks for the six feet under scripts. however you uploaded the sit down shut up pilot not the six feet under pilot.
