  1. Need help: Can anyone tell me of a movie or tv episode scene where a judge has had to pass down a maximum sentence even when he or she didn't want to because that is what the law requires. Need some reference for a scene I'm writing.

      Mostly in terms of the judges monologue when giving out the sentence.

      Can't seem to recall, you should go with your gut. But unless the Judge is the focus of the story, I don't see it coming off as more than a description of sympathy as he reads the verdict.

      Not a maximum sentence, but the end of Dallas Buyers Club has the judge upholding a decision he doesn't personally believe in. Short scene though.
