  1. Anyone have a copy of a sample TV pilot budget? Preferably for a cable show, but anything would be helpful.

      Hilarious...yet painful. Oh so painful. Reminds me of a sketch I wrote years ago named "The Failed Artists."

      Doesn't look like any of the scripts are in the file exchange. I'm not sure, but it looks like all of the finalists are hour-long shows.

      they do a tv pilot and a feature spec contest. Entries for the feature film contest are accepted June 15th, I believe.

      @Josh Dorian -- They do look like hour-longs. I wish they had a separate half-hour category. (I entered with a half-hour.)

  4. Why does every article about Mixology describe the show as high concept? It's a comedy set in a bar. It's very low concept. Nothing wrong with that.

      Okay, if the entire series lasts one night, I'll concede the high concept!

      Let's just hope it's better than everything those guys have written other than The Hangover.

      Looks like they're shooting next week. I just saw a casting notice for extras. Now, if they could shoot the entire show in a single night, I'd really be impressed.

  5. So my spec "Goodnight, Moon Thieves" got an 8 out of 10 by an anonymous reviewer on the Black List site. It's obviously not as good as getting a 9 or 10, but it still seems like I should be able to leverage an 8 to get more people reading it. Any suggestions?

      Thanks! Now I just need to figure out how to use that rating to my advantage.

      Sadly... I've been trying to get a script read more on there as well that is getting great reviews and it just seems like nobody notices...

      Any script that gets rated 8 or higher gets mentioned in a weekly email, so I'm hoping that will help get some notice.

  6. Has anyone read any good comedies from The Black List yet? I've read several BL scripts, but would like to check out a good comedy next, if anyone has a recommendation.

      I suggest the HL scripts... they're always more fun.

      I thought the Untitled Cops comedy was pretty funny.

      Thanks for the suggestions. I'll check out Cherry, Ex BF of the Bride and Untitled Cops Comedy (as well as the HL).
