  1. What are some of the biggest changes you've seen from script to screen?

  2. If want to write network pilots, you should be reading Ashish's Runway Series every Thursday for the next 4 weeks: http://www.tracking-board.com/the-runway-your-2017-pilot-survival-guide-nbc-dramas/

  4. Atlanta has the best writing on television currently. Sad we have to wait 51 weeks to see if it will win the Emmy for comedy writing.

Haven't watched this weeks episode yet but enjoyed the previous ones. I went into the pilot ep with zero knowledge about it and was pleasantly surprised.

  5. I'm sure I'm in the minority here and will probably get crucified for this, but I honestly do not get the hype for Stranger Things. It seems like the more people hype a show up all over social media the more let down I am by it when I finally get around to watching. Props to the writers for getting it going but I just was not engaged. Discuss.

I didn't love it, nor did I hate it. It was just another thing I watched based on the hype.

  6. In a galaxy far, far away, I co-wrote a small straight to DVD arthouse movie called Hard Target 2. Trailer's out.

  7. I know live theater hardly EVER translates well to video - that said, here's a vid of a 10-minute play I wrote that's been put on stage here in the States and in Dubai (so far). The sound quality ain't THX-quality, but if you are looking for something different to watch:

  8. Just got a recommend. Many thanks to those who sent me notes upon notes.

  9. I don’t normally toot my own horn, but... my western script “DEATH OF A LEGEND” is the Grand Prize Winner in the StoryPros Screenwriting Competition, beating out almost 1,000 other screenplays. Tracking Board coverage from DB and JT helped me improve the script, so a very big thanks to them. I’m hoping the win will help me in my quest to find a manager.

  10. So I ended up winning best comedy feature at Austin. I'm still trying to process the whole experience, but I can't say enough good things about the festival!

  11. Hey, did you guys know that Effie's made 17 movies?!

  12. Enjoyng seeing Project Greenlight again. Shaping up to be as memorable as "Feast" season.

Enjoyed the first 2 episodes, though I wish they went with…

      *SPOILER*

Chris Capel as the director instead. Loved his "Living With Jigsaw" short.

  14. Nobody knows of a single script written by a former prison inmate? Really?

  15. Help. Need a hack to get a B&W image (pdf or jpeg) into a script. Anyone?

  16. Senior Year = Kickin' It Old Skool. Took me a while to remember but, yeah, switch breakdancing for cheerleading and switch genders. BOOM! Mid-six figures. Not cynical, just pointing out that Hollywood does more recycling than Greenpeace.

      Senior Year

Story centers on a cheerleader that falls from a pyramid and knocks herself into a coma. When she wakes up 20 years later (present day) in the body of a 37 year old woman, but having only aged physically and knowing nothing else, she returns to claim her seat at the cool table and win the prom queen crown that eluded her.

All I keep seeing on twitter are quotes of people raving about how good the screeners they attended were.

The Wedding Ringer is a great comedy concept. Looks like a solid film, I'm sure it'll do fine.

  20. Anyone watch The Interview yet? Worth checking out?

I enjoyed it. I'd re-watch The Interview before ever watching Dumb & Dumber To again.

  21. Besides Urban Dictionary, do you know any good resource for current teenage lingo?

    1. Mysterian

      Mysterian

I suppose it also depends where in the world the teens in your story live. Lingo can be vastly different from one city to the next, or from one country to another.

  22. Am I the only one here who has fallen down into the black hole known as the SERIAL PODCAST?

    1. Mysterian

      Mysterian

nope... you are not alone. I find it incredibly hard to restrain myself from looking up details online. I'm looking forward to the 4th for the newest episode.

  23. Didn't want to hijack Fsalmon's post about Serial, so adding this post. I'm new to podcasts (other than film-related ones). Do any of you have any great podcast recommendations?

  24. Hmm, Write2Reel went to a "paid site" status yesterday. ($60.00 a year) How many of you frequent this "little brother" to the Tracking Board? For the most part, TB kicks ass over it in all areas, but lately some gems have popped up via someone scanning in hard to find scripts. I think I'll pass on paying for their weak service. Any thoughts?

I wanted the script for the movie Four Lions. I saw that it was on there and that is why I signed up... unaware that the following day it would become a paid site.

It's funny you bring this up. I signed up two days ago cause it was free, tried to download a script and it said I had to wait to be approved. The next morning I tired again and it said I had to pay. It all makes sense now.
