  1. what are the chances of The Chicago Code getting renewed? Love the show, just heard rumblings that it's underperforming in Fox's eyes.

I will cry if this gets cancelled.

Ditto. (My money is it takes the midseason replacement slot, but who knows with the football situation.)

  2. Anyone know of a few reputable pilot script contests? Looking for something that gives good exposure.

      You'll have to wait for Austin - but they're great. Here's a list w/ feedback from Moviebytes -> http://moviebytes.com/directory.cfm

      Austin seconded.

  3. Is going back in time and reading "Back to the Future" (Imaginary theme music cue)

I don't think I could ever get sick of that movie

  4. Just finished reading Frank Darabonts "The Walking Dead" Pilot, what an amazing script!

I agree! It had great description and tone. Really captured the comic books. Can't wait to see it on Halloween!

The trailer does not match what I saw in my head while reading it, still hoping that I'm wrong and it turns out to be great.

  5. Loved Darabonts script for "The Walking Dead" unfortunately the trailer makes the show look terrible.

Have you seen the behind the scenes stuff? I thought the trailer was cool... what didn't you like?

Visually it looked a little campy, which is not how it read on the page. I will give it a chance, but the script was so amazing, and the visuals did not match the grittiness that I felt reading it.

  6. Had a blast in Austin, feels good to sleep in my own bed again.

Black Swan was fantastic, Bloodworth was ok, got to watch 12 Monkees with David and Janet Peoples with a Q and A afterwards. Hit more conferences than films actually.

  7. Maybe I'm the only one, but my dad wanted to see Jurassic World, and holy shit what a horrible hodge lodge of cliche and stereotype. I guess story takes a far back seat to CGI. Even the comedic moments of levity fell flat. In short I thought it sucked big time, and I guess I just don't understand the appeal.

It's supposed to say hodge podge but autocorrect was being a moron.

I'm with you. I grew up on the original and this one was just so...disjointed! There were literally 3 different stories going on at any one time and none of them really wrapped up well. And as for the "love story?" I felt Chris was more connected with his raptor "Blue " than the girl. Ugh.

  8. I was glad to see that The Walking Dead pilot turned out better than I had thought, though I still think it read better than what ended up on the screen.

I think it started out solid, was a little heavy-handed in the middle, but quickly picked up pace again building towards the end.

The script worked much better than the filmed pilot. I was blown away by the script, but just kinda enjoyed the show.

  9. who was it that was going to write an article about self publishing and when can I expect to read it?

  10. Hey TB Chat, I miss you. Just started training for a new job, so two weeks of doubles give me little time for anything but sleep and work (plus some writing when I can sneak it in). Hope to see you in a couple of weeks ...

      Best show on television.

  17. Anyone else read the Locke and Key pilot? I am a huge fan of the graphic novel, and I have to say, though it was different, I still loved it. I just hope they don't screw the damn thing up.

      TheTypeBMBA

I am not a comic book/graphic novel guy, but I thought the pilot was brilliant. Really looking forward to seeing it on-screen.

  18. stupidly watched Dinner with Schmucks last night . . . so painful.

Looks like Pitt is embracing his age and could have his best years ahead of him.

  20. Has anyone read the Alcatraz pilot script? If so was it good?

  21. Hey thanks for the read. I think you're right about the beginning of my pilot, I need a kick to start things off, something to add a little curiosity and tension to what should be the cold open.

    All my best,

    Jeff

  22. Anyone planning on going to AFF Conference? Thinking of going, but may be sans friends or wife this year. Would love to get together with other TB members for a drink.

  23. spending the next few days cranking through a rewrite

  24. Who do I have to bribe to get my hands on the Hobgoblin pilot.

  25. Breaking Bad gets better and better! It reminds me of The Shield when it was nearing its end, only this may be building to an even greater ending.
