    Any thoughts on Low Winter Sun pilot episode? I caught bits and pieces of it and other than the fact it tracked the script, I haven't decided what I think of it. (Breaking Bad was incredible, of course!)

      By the time actors get to the States they've done a lot of British series and films so if something goes wrong a Hollywood executive can hold up their UK resume and say "it's not my fault I picked him. Look. He's done all this."

      I can't figure out the buy. There's no name recognition. There's no stack of awards. The concept/story is just a dull procedural. The only reason the original works is Colman-Tennant.

    What do you think the budgetary cut off is for producing a script with unknown/relatively unknown actors? For instance 'Chronicle' was made for $12 million but didn't have any big names attached. At what point would most studios go "okay, we need an A-lister"?

      Chronicle -- Davis Entertainment set up the project. They have a 1st look deal and a long relationship with Fox so it's a different thing for them to ask for $12 mil. versus the director trying to set up the project at Fox.

      If the studio is writing the checks for production they're going to try to plug a name into anything and everything. If you get into the murky world of financing partners and other companies like with Chronicle anything goes.

    Does any one have any "scripts" of videogames? I guess it's in some sort of form of "rights and lefts", as in the choices a player makes along the way? My son is interested in media arts / game development and I'm trying to turn him on to the STORY side of the "art form." (cough cough...)
