      I guess I'm missing the subtext. Are we saying he's a shitty writer and that's the only reason things worked out? If he's a good writer then what does it matter where he works or who he knows. If we don't know whether he's a good writer then why are we jumping to the conclusion that he must be writer undeserving of what comes his way BUT FOR his connections?
