    How do you write a backwards script like Memento or Peppermint Candy? Do you write it in reverse order and then just reorder the scenes, or try and write it backwards to begin with?

      If I recall correctly, the story was written straight on notecards (by scene/major event). The back end of the script was then taken and re arranged at the points of best fit through the first half of the story in places where it could serve the best fit. It's always easier to tell the story straight first.
