I find myself sitting next QT on my immediate right and Zoe Kravitz on my left, smoking a joint, while me & QT discuss Django and the missing scenes. He schooled me, I schooled him, and we got stoned.

  4. Just got a letter from AFF that one of my scripts made 2nd round. Felt pretty good after not getting out of the first my last couple of tries.

  5. Just found out I'm a runner-up in Scriptapalooza 2012. I'll take that!

  8. Always bothers me when I see an AMAZING Indie film, then find out the budget was five million dollars. Yeah. Indie. I'm looking at you Taking Shelter.

"Indie means your financing doesn't come from any of the studios/media conglomerates. That's it."

  9. would appear that Affleck has turned down the Justice League directing gig. My pick would be Rebuen Fliescher for the film.

My boy was on set of GANGSTER SQUAD...said Fleischer is out of his element with this one.

  10. Just saw "Jaws" for the first time (!) at a local theater and now I'm reading the script. It's interesting to see what was changed in the final shoot - you can really see what they were trying to accomplish in a scene by reading what they tried first (this is actually at least the third draft I know of, probably more like the 100th). http://www.dailyscript.com/scripts/Jaws.txt

It wouldn't work! So Spielberg freestyled the "less is more" angle...and it worked GLORIOUSLY. Added a new element to film making. And subsequently went on to INVENT the "Summer Blockbuster".

But the REAL reason for the changes was due to technical difficulties and shooting at sea, The shark (as in the script) is seen in the movie immediately. In the film the shark doesn't appear (physically seen) until midway...that's cause they didn't have a damn shark!

True. But most film buffs would define it as a genre -- with a whole 20 tear period to show for it :)

  14. S. Craig Zahler just had UTA send me Raw Knuckles, Gray Glass 1&2, The Discomfiture of Aldon Withers, and Corpus Chrome, INC. (unpublished novel). I can't say enough about his kindness and sincerity. It's been great chatting with him lately.

I'd argue that. It definitely is its own genre. It may not be "official" but in my eyes and blu-ray collection it's its own genre.

  17. What are good screenplays to read that have fight scenes? Besides the Bourne franchise, what are examples of movies with great action/fight scenes?

Royce Reid And The Eye Of The Beholder... Best fight scenes out.

Just tackled that genre...twice. It's the best, as ANYTHING can be noir -- as long as you have a few key elements. From BLADE RUNNER to THE BIG LEBOWSKI. Both of which are damn near polar opposites in style and substance -- but are both noirs with a very common thread

  20. Went to a PGA Screening of BEASTS OF THE SOUTHERN WILD. One word: Wow! Brilliantly touching, yet completely unorthodox film -- with great acting from completely untrained civilians. See it next week. Well worth the price of admission. I put my rep on that...

  21. Hey all. Lots have asked how my Nexxus Pilot is going after TB Recommends. I just did a minor rewrite for a management company (who sent it to a big 3 agency) and I am in wait and see mode. The file on the file exchange is the one originally sent to TB, it has since been updated(Grammar, plot point or two, etc.) and is much more clean. But, I am in wait-n-see mode. All the initial hub but was huge. Now, I anxiously await next steps. Shout out to TB for recommending me. Will keep u posted.

  22. Gotta stop researching at some point . . .
