Brian -- Just off the top of my head... someone who's a screenwriter?

  2. Why has the new Star Trek not beat the first one's opening weekend, even with 3D and Imax premiums and an 87% critics rating? It had the best trailer of the year. (No spoilers!)

You're all whacked out on wowie sauce. It was fantastic.

  3. Reading a script where "asthma" has been repeatedly been spellchecked to "Satan".

As an asthma sufferer, I can support that.

  4. Any Shawshank Redemption fans here? Fyi we're doing a teleconference in 30 minutes, "Story Mapping Shawshank" with the I.S.A. Free: http://t.co/SJc6BPfReR

  5. After several recommendations to watch A Simple Plan, I got a group together and watched it. 4 of the 5 people HATED it. Said they don't like movies that make you think. This is your audience talking. I liked it though...

  6. AMC is bringing back THE KILLING for a 3rd season. Whyyyyy?!!

^ This. Not baffling at all. Maybe surprising, but totally understandable.

  9. 48fps is not the way of the future by any means, unless you like Charlie Chaplin's speedy exaggerated motion.

I find any complaints about 48fps to be sad, frankly...

I will be showing off my professional decorum by downing glasses of wine at 9-10:30am upon not seeing my script make the list. Don't judge.

  12. Anybody know what big script Carson Reeves is giving out for book reviews?

I'm going to be as blunt here as I am on twitter -- the motherfucker needs to get shut down, and hard.

  13. WOW (sorry for the caps, this is copied from a press release): AMC’S “THE WALKING DEAD” IS THE FIRST CABLE SERIES TO BEAT EVERY OTHER SHOW OF THE FALL BROADCAST SEASON IN ADULT 18-49 RATING “THE WALKING DEAD” ATTRACTS 15.2 MILLION VIEWERS FOR THE NIGHT SERIES DELIVERS 10.5 MILLION VIEWERS AT 9PM PREMIERE, UP 58% OVER LAST YEAR’S MID-SEASON FINALE

Unreal. In the best possible way. I love seeing a show that does't bleed viewers over time but instead continues to increase.

  14. I laughed out loud at The Black List "but we didn't know he was our intern" press release.

    1. dietgreentea

      dietgreentea

It's hilarious to me how so many people have this notion that, in the writing world, the word "intern" -- which, in this case, barely even applies -- is somehow a powerful incentive…

  15. Ever write that villain that's so fucked up you know he might just be your projection of your evil side?!

    1. dietgreentea

      dietgreentea

I prefer it when I write a villain that even makes my evil side go, "dude's fucked up."

  16. Question: I prefer printing out scripts and reading them in a variety of places. How do YOU read scripts - print copy, computer screen or Kindle-type tablet? The Kindle Paperwhite sounds intriquing, but it's just too small for my desired experience. Is there a simple, 8 X 11 PDF reader out there?

    1. dietgreentea

      dietgreentea

iPad, using the iBook app, all the way. It's been a godsend for me. Before that, I could only read by having paper copies. Reading scripts on a computer is agonizing torture for me.

  18. What does everyone think about Final Draft app and the Ipad? I know they just came out with the app. Seems like this is the perfect writer combination. Would the Ipad be intuitive for writing scripts? I don't have an Ipad.

    1. dietgreentea

      dietgreentea

All I want to know about it is this: does it work in landscape mode? If I can type in that app in landscape mode, I'm pouncing on it so effing fast.

  19. Best figures one can find suggests the WGA registers over 70,000 pieces of material each year. That translates into 70,000 query letters/E Mails, 70,000 screenplay competition applications, etc. Remember that when crafting your script and wondering if it needs another rewrite. Because the answer is: yes.

  21. Very happy to be part of the "Super Six" for 'TB Recommends' -- still getting reads on Nexxus and working on some new projects. Hopefully new reps will be part of the future. I love this site and everybody's honest feedback and support! Viva la TB!

  25. Hi folks... may I ask that for now on whenever you post a script in the File Exchange, even/and especially if it's an ISO fill, that you add a logline just like K. Ryans (and pretty much everyone else) does. It would be greatly appreciated, because I'm getting tired of downloading the script(s) only to find out it's a piece of crap unworthy of even using at the bottom of a bird cage. Like I said, I would greatly appreciate it (and I'm sure a lot of others too). Thank you. :)

Then I assume COCKSUCKERS will be downloaded immediately upon upload when it goes out.
