  1. AMBER ALERT: Where the hell is Dan Dollar? Last seen coercing undocumented workers outside Home Depot in hopes of finding someone to help him move his junk into his new hovel.

  2. Works in Progress Experiment... I'm gonna try some fun writing sprint exercises in W.I.P. section this weekend. Will go from Idea->Title->Outline->Completed 1st Draft Pilot. Follow along and watch me fail (or succeed).

  3. Damn - two years in a row my little horror spec finished in the top 10-15% of Nicholl's but missed the quarterfinal cut. Guess it's time for another rewrite then onto the next one!

  4. Meeting tomorrow - albeit to write the VO for a documentary - but writing is writing . . . right?

  5. My psycho-thriller has just been optioned. It's titled: "The Cuckoo's Plight”. Jim Sheridan who directed "My Left Foot" – from which Daniel Day Lewis won an academy award - is onboard as an executive producer.

  6. FADE OUT!!! First draft of HELL HOLE complete. Logline: Kept under wraps, but said to be a horror-thriller franchise in the vein of THE GRUDGE and THE CORE.

  7. How often is it that a trailer is made out of a 3 - 4 min. film? Rhetorical question. Just was fun to see that one was made out of the short I wrote ("Love"): http://vimeo.com/54597715 "Love" makes its big screen debut at the Edinburgh Short Film Festival in a week or so (June 14th at The Granary).

  8. Here's a little short film I wrote, directed and played every part in. Hope you guys like!

  9. new draft sent to manager! second time's the charm, right?

  10. What's the best dramatic TV Pilot Outline you've read or seen? I loved the original Freaks and Geeks outline and the Veronica Mars one... what about you?

  11. I highly recommend the Steve Kessler documentary "Paul Williams: Still Alive” ... awesome. Paul Williams wrote some of the biggest hits in the 70s, appeared on Carson, was in Planet of the Apes... amazing story. Funny and heartwarming

  12. My sister got me Your Screenplay Sucks! for Christmas. I'm reading it now and it's quite good. What's your favorite screenwriting book?

  15. Our spec ROCK 'N' ROLL LOVE STORY is getting traction at a couple prodcos. It's definitely a long shot but it's Christmas, hope springs eternal...lol!

  16. Hypothetically, if one were hoping to move to LA next year...where can I find information on which place is best? I don't like to party, I like to drive myself everywhere, but would still like to be close enough to do meetings and the like. Any advice/favorite articles?

I'd also say West Hollywood area. I lived blocks from Runyon Canyon above Hollywood Blvd for years and loved the area.

  18. My short script that was one of the winning pieces for the 50 Kisses Competition has been made into a pretty cool film: http://www.50kissesfilm.com/movies/love-by-grindstone-films/ Yes - I'm probably a tad biased - but fun to see my words on the page turned into something visual
