PWA's interview on the WTF podcast was very interesting.

yup. I was digging it the other day on Putlocker. I remember liking the trailer a hile back and looking forward to it, but it never opened on any cinema screens around here... Putlocker and SolarMovie are terrific for all the stuff that never makes it to the cinemaplex.

  4. Entourage trailer (not sure what makes it a "teaser")

  5. Happy Holidays to one and all. Just like to say this consistently stays a great resource. Thanks to all the contributors - Hit List, Black List, FYC scripts, old scripts, spec scripts, TV scripts. Just great. Thank you. Now make sure you read some of the scripts instead of just having a million of them. So much to learn. Never give up on your writing dreams. Never ever.

  6. Didn't want to hijack Fsalmon's post about Serial, so adding this post. I'm new to podcasts (other than film-related ones). Do any of you have any great podcast recommendations?

  7. It's hard to find a more dangerously misguided director on the planet than Oliver Stone. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/oliver-stone-planning-doc-russian-747366

  8. Wow... The Strain started so strong. What happened??!

  9. I can barley stomach giving broadcast TV a chance these days. 98 Percent of it is just ridiculous.

  10. WOW. I caught a sneak peek showing of GET ON UP (James Brown bio-pic) earlier this week and it is REALLY, REALLY, REALLY GOOD.

Sure, it was candy coated, but great acting, cinematography, and clothes to die for. All hail King Records!

  12. May I take a moment, as the trailer for NIGHTCRAWLER is so tasty - I'd just like to stop for a moment and say, damn, page 40 of the 11.27.2012 draft is downright delicious.

  13. Am I the only one who needs to print something off in order to read it properly?

I print out 90% of what I read. Can go from a warm bath to the Chinese buffet. Hmmm. Love among the TB. A case of paper. My HP laserjet. PRICELESS.

Yeah - I'm hyped too for Exodus. It's really good and I've been on a real Bible kick for the last year. So much terrific religious-osity out there these days...

  15. Well, Revenant was a good read, but damn, couldn't they stick with an African-American in the lead role?!? Where is Woody Strode when we need him?!?

  16. Who's reading what? Latest round of WTF should I be reading in my downtime? Looking for new(er) material. 2013/2014. Any recommendations?

  18. Can anyone recommend an amazing Western script of the last 2-3 years that has thus far gone unproduced? It's fine if it sold, but looking for something unproduced. Best of the best only. Thanks.

  20. As great as so much television is these days, and as addictively as I tune in to some of it, I tend not to re-watch it. Yet I do re-watch movies. I'm curious if others have similar tendencies. And thoughts on why that is (or isn't). Assuming this is the case for others, is it something as simple as production value? Or does it go deeper? Does it have to do with the story mechanics? Like, in order to go on this 2 hour journey, movies are super-compressed with idea and emotion, and...

@elliott - I agree. I can watch The Unforgiven over and over, and it still effects me deeply. Re-watching certain TV, like the Wire or Sopranos, reveal small details that are fulfilling.

benskelly2 - yes, I agree, but isn't the 70's era you highlight a product of a unique time period where maverick independent filmmakers were able to work within the studio system ($) and still make it THEIR WAY with vision and daring do, rather than the mush-machine Playdoh Pumper #9 we suffer through now?

Much too predictable and overwrought. Michael Fassbender was electrifying, but not enough to carry a Best Picture nod. It will be sad if white guilt is compelled to call this a masterpiece.
