So I have a Star Wars theory - JJ is going to kill Han Solo.

Just got my first TB coverage back. Very thoughtful and constructive notes!

Sorely disappointed with Interstellar for a number of reasons.

I'm being reductionist because there really isn't a lot of space to comment here.
You say his face was gut wrenching, but really, we didn't know much about the character, so at least for me, I didn't care that he had aged 23 years. Yeah, it sucks, but nothing really ever came of it, plot-wise. He didn't go crazy. He didn't jeopardize the mission. If he hadn't aged, it wouldn't have changed the plot.
When I saw the daughter at the end, I c...

Axalon, I would encourage you to attack my criticisms rather than attacking me.
There's nothing wrong with introducing any of those concepts - the problem was that I didn't have a reason to care for any them, and when you break them down to their essence, they're not that all that new. A wormhole is just a technical portal or doorway. Time dilatation is just wacky aging. Tesseracts are funky hallways.

...the most surprising thing for me was when the robot transformed into that spinning wheel, that could do anything the plot demanded at the time. (But it was still cool, though). That was all that surprised me.
But yeah, if you're familiar with GEB and Hofstadter's concept of consciousness arising from recursion, which he dubs "Strange Loops," the ending becomes really clear from the get-go.

Spec-Writer - I *did* see it IMAX, and I'm sorry, it really didn't surprise me. In fact, it looked a lot like two specs I have of my own, just mashed together, which contained a lot of the same ideas (albeit oneis still in the note stage). One was about the Dustbowl, and the other was about consciousness and recursion (which you can learn a lot about my reading Godel, Escher, and Bach - which is clearly what's influencing Nolan here).
I'll say the most surprising t...

The *only* time I actually cared during the whole film was when he met his daughter again - at the very, very end. That was it.
The only reason I don't give the film a 3/10 is because the acting was solid, the plot was mostly coherent (if nothing new), and there was clearly a lot of effort put into the visuals. But for me, that makes this a 5 or a 6 out of 10.
Most folks will probably give it a 7 or an 8, though.

The first death on the water planet was unsurprising.
Matt Damon's character's betrayal was hackneyed and felt obligatory.
Even the self-sacrifice at the end was just... kind of... there.
Moon had a better robot in Gerty.
2001 did the whole enlightenment scene better.
And, ugh, it was oh-so-preachy, channeling this nonsensical tripe about the forgotten greatness of 1960's NASA and the so-called "exploratory spirit."...

Would it be appropriate to post the coverage I received for my LPFC entry? I found it really insightful and helpful.

Copyright question for you guys. I was thinking of (loosely) basing a script on one of Isaac Asimov's short stories which is, of course, copyrighted. Anyway I can use it? I'm not planning on stelling or anything, probably just put it on YouTube.

Honestly, that depends on the copyright holder. I remember back in the day, Lucasfilm was really opposed to fan-made Star Wars spinoffs, like the cops/stormtrooper mashup "Troops." They would throw around their legal weight to get that stuff stopped. Eventually, they figured out it was good for business, and now encourage that kind of stuff.
If you're doing this with no way to make money/distributing on Youtube or something similar, as a fan-derived work, you're pro...

The music video for Papaoutai by Stromae is a nearly perfect 5 act with a haunting coda.

Amazed at all the quality submissions so far! Still thin in the comedy space, so... hit me up.

Congrats to my good friend, Mark Lawyer on his new management company. Without Mark, PADRE might still be available.

Cranking out this rewrite in time for LPFC. Lots of big changes. Almost there...Thanks again to everyone who gave feedback.
