  1. If I'm completely honest, I feel like I've lost my ability to write. I haven't been able to flow at the level I used to be able to in a very long time.

This is true. I don't plan on stopping, but I need to get back to the level I was operating at two years ago.

      same reasons.

But if you choose a game world which has lots of lore and worldbuilding, and create a story that's representative of that world, without violating what the games have created or what players have experienced, you'll come out with something halfway decent. It's why the Mortal Kombat movie did well all those years ago. Take Enter the Dragon, and replace Bruce Lee with Lu Kang.

And that's... okay I guess. The reason so many video game adaptations have failed in the past is because when you subtract player agency from a video game story, it can suddenly get a whole lot weaker, because you're removing that layer of identification to the character. I like BEING Max Payne, jumping into a room and using Bullet Time to clear it out. I don't like watching Mark Wahlberg PRETENDING to do the same thing. Same for Hitman or Prince of Persia. All those fail for the...

Not sure if cool, but, depending on the success of the film, video game worlds might be the next "superhero" genre.

Think about it - pick something with a lot of lore and a large fandom, and you'll pretty much have a built-in hit. Heck, we have an Assassin's Creed movie coming out soon.

Video Game adaptations; next big thing.

  7. So KRAMPUS is rated PG-13... I'm thinking that had something to do with the R-rated CRIMSON PEAK failing and the PG GOOSEBUMPS doing pretty well...

Wasn't Crimson Peak poorly advertised? Kind of the way Bicentennial Man was. Its marketed as a horror, when really, it's not, from what I've heard.

Adlocke - I don't think they did. The original movie was a real mess, and saved in the editing room. There is a whole subplot excised from the film, with Biggs Darklighter, which you can hear in the original audio drama (and it's terrible). I don't think Lucas even knew there would be more. Thus we end up with the whole Luke-Leia incest-kiss. They were never originally intended to be brother and sister.

I changed the body text color, and the size and color of the navbar links. I can't do much about the image size, at least for this particular post, but I'll try to keep that in mind for future posts. Thanks for the suggestions, all. Hopefully they make it easier to read.

Thanks for the color feedback. I have a suspicion that my monitor color is off, and without a color calibrator, I had to use my best judgement. I will make the text darker, and see what I can do about the links on the left.

      Thanks for reading, all.

  12. A lot of great screenwriting lessons can be gleaned from the musical Hamilton. Worth a listen on Spotify -- especially "My Shot"

  13. I have at least 10 different screenplays I could start right now. Not sure what to tackle next.

I took *a lot* of extra, almost unnecessary measures to increase the security tonight, on top of the already hardened/secure install.

But yeah, if they broke in, they'd have access to a few blog posts, and a few unpublished Portfolio items, lol.

Adlocke - Most people running their own Wordpress install aren't good at security, and are easy targets. Plugins help on this front, though. All-In-One-WP Security is a godsend. And apparently the Jetpack plugin also blocked *161* malicious login attempts!

The main differences are the age of the cast and the setting. My cast was all adults - 25-30 years old, and they were coming home for a reunion, instead of going to summer camp. The monster(s) were also from colonial times.
