Indeed, it was awesome. Total meta, fourth-wall-breaking fun. And bloody and vulgar as hell. :)

  2. Should I watch Crimson Peak in Imax 3d? I loved watching the last 40 minutes of the Walk on Imax 3D....but didn't think movies like Clash of the Titans really needed it.

My review is it's just not a good film, unless you're a costume and set design fetishist.

My snarky answer: Don't see it at all. :P

My serious answer: No, it really wouldn't benefit from the IMAX format. Save your money and see it on a normal-sized screen.

  4. Good news? "Terminator: Genisys" isn't as bad as expected. Bad news? It's still not good.

  5. Hey guys, that Sony hack was a pretty dark day for the industry, and I think it's irresponsible to bring to light anything damaging to those affected. Also, most of those items that were deleted already existed (as they were not actually from any hack of any kind, but were already part of the community.

Thanks for the clarification, Red. I'd say that's a good call.

  6. Happy Holidays to one and all. Just like to say this consistently stays a great resource. Thanks to all the contributors - Hit List, Black List, FYC scripts, old scripts, spec scripts, TV scripts. Just great. Thank you. Now make sure you read some of the scripts instead of just having a million of them. So much to learn. Never give up on your writing dreams. Never ever.

  7. Just watched The Sixth Sense for the first time today while home with the flu.

  8. Hmm, Write2Reel went to a "paid site" status yesterday. ($60.00 a year) How many of you frequent this "little brother" to the Tracking Board? For the most part, TB kicks ass over it in all areas, but lately some gems have popped up via someone scanning in hard to find scripts. I think I'll pass on paying for their weak service. Any thoughts?

@Knock: Didn't know about Hank giving free access to the regulars. Now I'm mildly miffed that my 200 or so script posts didn't qualify me as "regular." :-P

It was a fun site while it was free, but I doubt it's going to be worth $60/year. I'd expect those who were regular posters there (myself included) to seek out other script exchange avenues.

On that subject, it would be great to see more released film scripts posted to the TB File Exchange.

  10. New iPad EXTREMELY light and thin. Perfect for reading scripts with one hand. Compared weight to original mini and it was barely heavier. But, full size screen viewing without needing a stand for thickness or weight. Cool!

  11. I'm a huge Fincher fan, but Gone Girl didn't blow me away. Performances were good, especially Pike and Perry. I'm not sure if it was the photography but it came off a little dull.

@WiseSunday: I did read the book before I saw the movie, and I admit it took a little of the punch out of the twist. Still, I can't recommend the book enough. Gillian Flynn's prose is phenomenal.

I felt the second act dragged some, but oh, that third act twist! Sheer brilliance. I went in having a bad day and came out having enjoyed one of the best films of the year.

It surely won't leak, but I wonder if the studio might include it as part of a home video/book release.

I'll go further: "Edge of Tomorrow" stands with "District 9," "V for Vendetta," and "The Matrix" as the top sci-fi/action films of the last 15 years.

  20. Spent the ady yesterday at the multiplex while my truck was being worked on. 3 Days To Kill was completely forgetable, even though I enjoyed the script last year. Robocop wa a steaming turd. My passion is the craft of screenwriting. I'm a movie nut. I'm a story junkie. I'm a script hound. So why is that I can't remember the last time a film actually satisfied me... I have high hopes for Noah, even though Hollywood (Sodom and Gomorrah) looks like it's trimmed the ev...

It's reasonable to place the films of our youth on pedestals. I do it, too, yet I keep finding new crushes. I'm forced to admit that maybe "The Raid" is cooler than "Commando" or that "Inception" is more thought-provoking than "Star Trek." That's to say nothing about amazing films like "Children of Men" and "Gravity" that just wouldn't have been feasible to shoot 20-30 years ago. Hollywood can be irritating at times, but give...

I'm following "Helix." It has been hit-or-miss so far, with the latest episode a definite "miss." Still holding out hope for some John Carpenter-esque paranoia thrills, though.
