Writing Partner and I wrote a Rom-Com, need some feedback. Logline: A once happy couple on the verge of divorce find they can't split until it's decided who gets to keep the dog they both love; and they'll do anything to keep him.

Hello Pittsburgh!
-
Sick today. watching Gremlins, Goonies and Monster Squad.

Apparently foreign distributors are really interested in the horror thriller spec I've been working on this summer and want the script ASAP. Has anyone else had to rush write a script before?
-
Script I worked on all summer and turned into Universal? Turns out a title with a "the" in front of it sold last month for a tv series. I think mine is still different enough...:/
-
This is your quarterly reminder to back up all of your writing files! Cloud, jump drive, external HD, etc. Do it now!
-
There's something crushingly confusing about reading great specs and learning from them, only to see them actualized in the theaters and get railed over by audiences and critics alike. Read: Nobody. Knows. Anything.

I was so shocked when the first Passengers trailer came out...it looked like a really expensive perfume commercial. Or like that fake movie they were talking about in Thank You For Smoking with Angelina Jolie smoking in space.
This is the second good script Morten Tyldum has made a bland realization of.

Any good comic book scripts? By that I mean what the artist takes from the writer and interprets into the panels/pages? I'm surprised there are no books of side to side comparisons...

Thanks a lot, Charlie!
Full disclosure, I wrote a steampunk/gearpunk pilot with two other friends that has been very favorably received and we're looking to potentially turn it into a graphic novel or a comic book series as the budget would be high and no one would take a risk on it.
We were planning 13 episode seasons and about 5 or 6 seasons worth of story. Advice from friends in the business suggest going the comic route so we're exploring it currently and are just in...

One of the first scripts I ever tackled was an adaptation of Ocarina of Time. Netflix, give me the job.

Apollo 13 is on tv and I'm so close to tears. I fu**ing love that movie.

Love him or hate him, Max Landis wrote a nice little letter to screenwriters on reddit the other day: http://www.reddit.com/r/Screenwriting/comments/2oc1eb/open_letter_to_screenwriters_from_max_landis/

My cousin just lost his shit after seeing the trailer for "I Declare War" proclaiming his script was stolen. Does anyone have the script to read?
-
Going through a writing dry spell. Almost been a month. Feeling kind of crappy about it. Anyone else ever have a long period of no writing?

When I get "stuck" I just write a scene of something completely unrelated to whatever it is I'm working on -- like a James Bond intro or maybe Michelle Yeoh kicking some ass... whatever forces creativity.. and then I transition into project at hand. Maybe I still end up with crap but you know you sometimes gotta get it all out before the gems emerge. Write on!

I gotta say, the cinematography in the last episode of Breaking Bad was BEYOND amazing. Seriously. A camera guy can learn a lot from this show.

Bryan Cranston said that Vince Gilligan told him from the outset that the show was about going from Mr. Chips to Scarface. Funny how Scarface ended with Pacino firing grenades from an M-16, and Walter White begins this season by buying an M-60, another heavy machine gun. "The Last Stand of Heisenberg?" Who will be dead at this point -- Jesse, Hank, Lydia, his wife, kids? I think SAUL will be the lone survivor, and slink off into the distance holding a bag full of $100 million. :-)

Any interest on me reading the 230 page Cloud Atlas in the FE and doing a review?
-
Just read Snow White and the Huntsman (draft that sold). Mucho interesante. Didn't look too familiar in the trailer. How much was changed?
-
3rd draft is so close to being done. Gotta determine who I send it to for review...Kind of a toss up between scriptshadow and tracking board...

I totally agree and that's why I chose to use him. He's a screenwriter as well and probly won't be doing coverage much longer since he's close to getting a few big projects moving. He posts over on Done Deal as EvilRbt and his site is screenplaymechanic.com. If you want, I could send you a sample of the last coverage he did for me that really helped when I rewrote the script.
-
Finished a first draft last night. Time to give it a week off and hit it hard next week!
-
Starting the fourth draft. Here we go!

Has anyone on here (ANYONE) ever gotten a job that's posted in the jobs section? If so, can you tell us a bit about your experience?

Ideas for my next member review? Or Requests?
