Hey script reading club, let's chat on Sunday about this coming week's script. If you can't make it, just post here.

HBO's new fellowship is getting ready to launch for everyone...except white males.

Script reading club has a new spec to read. Blonde Ambition!

Script club chat tomorrow night to decide next week's script!

There's something crushingly confusing about reading great specs and learning from them, only to see them actualized in the theaters and get railed over by audiences and critics alike. Read: Nobody. Knows. Anything.

I was so shocked when the first Passengers trailer came out...it looked like a really expensive perfume commercial. Or like that fake movie they were talking about in Thank You For Smoking with Angelina Jolie smoking in space.
This is the second good script Morten Tyldum has made a bland realization of.

Should we do a new topic for each script in the chit chat? Or should we post them in Member Reviews? I added all the people who've messaged me into the list on chit chat. Want to start next week?

Congratulations, it must feel pretty remarkable. I'm reminded of that great quote from Almost Famous - "They don't even know what it is to be a fan. Y'know? To truly love some silly little piece of music, or some band, so much that it hurts." You can say they same about being a sports fan - it's really difficult work.

No one will agree (I don't think), but I love The Great Indoors. It's hysterical. http://www.cbs.com/shows/the-great-indoors/video/

Here's an ISO stretch: Anyone got any manuscripts for published books?

Yeah, the plant houses are good to go. The soil is gentle and the undead obnoxious.
As a sidenote, if you're going to be working in Denver I wouldn't live in/commute from the Springs. I've lived in both Denver and the Springs (love both but Denver is more for me) and that's a rough commute to making regularly. Castle Rock is about as far south as I would go for a Denver commute.

Super behind on TV pilots, but I've read a few and what the hell people? 69 pages for a network pilot with VERY TIGHT as your spacing settings? Who are you kidding?
-
Presumably they intend to cut after the initial draft the network reads, as an excuse to include ideas they could repurpose for later episodes, or to test out characters/plotlines that might be iffy. A TV writer friend told me a good length for a spec pilot is 65 pages. I've seen shooting scripts for recent hour-long dramas (regular episodes, not pilots) that are as short as 42.

Good Morning America mentioned the tracking board today. Made me do a double take.

Any good comic book scripts? By that I mean what the artist takes from the writer and interprets into the panels/pages? I'm surprised there are no books of side to side comparisons...

Thanks a lot, Charlie!
Full disclosure, I wrote a steampunk/gearpunk pilot with two other friends that has been very favorably received and we're looking to potentially turn it into a graphic novel or a comic book series as the budget would be high and no one would take a risk on it.
We were planning 13 episode seasons and about 5 or 6 seasons worth of story. Advice from friends in the business suggest going the comic route so we're exploring it currently and are just in...

On phone with producer regarding comedy series. He wants us to cut down on the drama, but wants "drama like stakes" in the pilot. #WTF

Anyone know anyone who works for Starz?
