Yes, I need one as well. Or one of those tablets/ipad. Would make it much easier to read scripts.

I started a discussion on this under "Chit Chat" some time ago. If all you're reading on it is screenplays, I've actually installed a different OS on the Kindle, something called Duokan.

Why? It's not like everyone isn't already talking about this script today. 12 people sent it to me yesterday. It's everywhere.

Agree, it's everywhere, but it's the person who starts bashing it first that pisses people off. No point. (IMO).

Got word back from TB. There thoughts are - the script is everywhere already, anyone who wants to read it can, so better to review something else.

Ugh. Don't get me started. I think the more stupid an idea is but has a huge following, people just glom on - I don't know why. It's like the same thing with that annoying Orange short that become huge. Ugh indeed

I don't mean to sound bitter (3 years ago I pitched to them, but I guess they didn't like a family comedy... >:o NEVER FORGIVE!!jk)

A friend of mine who writes children's fiction reminded me that a clever, funny, quick youtube series with an avg. of 2 million views will get anyone signed these days...I still think it's funny though, just wanted to rant when i found out they got signed for it :P. And yes, Agent Orange, Fred, Smosh and most of the other kids th...

  13. Just finished writing a review (if on can call it that) of Agent Ox. I pose some odd questions, so take a look!

  14. Just read an INCREDIBLY depressing article by Jon Jost on filmmakermagzine.com. Buzzkill..http://www.filmmakermagazine.com/news/2011/02/the-microbudget-conversation-what-are-festivals-good-for/#

      mikeyP_73

Everybody loves to project their bullshit on people when it comes to making micro, indie, medium budget, big budget stuff. Too much hate on why making films/new media/tv/shorts sucks in this day an age of mass digital consumption, consumer ADD, etc etc etc .... don't buy into it.... everything is a thing and nothing is in your control... or is it?

    2. Nic.Lishko

      Nic.Lishko

Interesting. I've just been getting more into the indie scene (saw Quiet City, Eagle Vs. Shark and Nice Guy Johnny all in the same day) and since I don't live in LA I figured it might be worth a shot. Just don't wanna do mumblecore :D

    3. Nic.Lishko

      Nic.Lishko

And while I'm on THAT note, yes people do project their bs on others. Taking into account the Consumer ADD, I think the market is mashed down with too much nonsensical (Fred, youtubepoop or whatever) and not enough sensical. My only issue with the "current" state of indie is no one cares about the stories or like Quiet City are just so boring you do want to gouge the eyes out. A delicate balance, but there's my ADD posting for ya. Duplass brothers do it and Cyrus was pretty awesome!

  15. How does Wes Anderson get to keep making movies when according to imdb, he never makes back the amount of money spent on the film?

Royal Tennenbaums easily did. Bought him a lot of breathing room. You know that Life Aquatic and Rushmore are in the black by now on ancillary revenue streams. Fantastic Mr. Fox will be soon, if not already. Darjeeling. Who knows. But none of his movies are so expensive that people balk. He's currently financed by a sharp, sharp businessman out of NY. When you operate like he does outside the studios, there's a lot of fat that's cut.

    3. treyselman

      treyselman

And before their latest run, the same could be same of the Coens first five films. But yeah, it's a weird world in indy financing for sure. Interesting to see what the Duplass brothers do for the next few films.

    4. Nic.Lishko

      Nic.Lishko

I liked Cyrus for sure. The script for Jeff Who Lives at Home WAS in the library a while back, I have to say I really enjoyed hearing about their approach of letting the actors run with a lot of scenes. I'll have to try it that way sometime, see if it works :D

  16. Updating Status again to say I reviewed Meet The New Boss in the Member Reviews Section.

  17. For some reason the pitch for RUNNERS actually sounds badass.

      boynotorious

I have heard many a pitch that turned into complete nonsense at the script level. I am reserving judgment as such.

Well stated. I did read your review and saw your reference to "Equilibrium" and thought to myself, "I didn't like that script either," so you're correct. Dystopian future projects can be a tough sell for me.

      Nic.Lishko

LOL. I listen to all the working writers talk about how fast it takes them to write a draft and I think shit, I'm going so damn slow! A good outline really does help write a hell of a lot faster, I will say that.

    3. aphid47

      aphid47

I agree about the outline. I had a 121 page first draft, let sit over the holidays, then cut it down to 95 pages. I'm letting it sit a couple of weeks before I give it a 3rd pass to iron out some of the changes I made.
