  1. Very excited to see how The Wall turned out on its conversion to the big screen! Going to see it bright and early tomorrow.

    1. birdscratch

      Yes, loved the script!

  2. A lot of people really liked the passengers script (myself included). Nerdwriter has a very interesting take.

Agreed. I was amazed at how just a simple edit with the footage already shot worked so well with this alternate narrative.

Wish the Every Frame a Painting guy still did vids. This one was pretty great.

    4. lauriestark

      This is a great video.

  3. Thank you to whoever recommended Bloodline!

BTW - If you gave the show a breathalyzer the BAC would be 0.18 or higher.

Yeah, the characters do a whole lotta drinking on that show. I noticed that too. And most often as a anti-anxiety self-medication. What if you substituted getting high in every one of those drinking scenes.

You're welcome! Glad you saw it.

  4. A Killing On Carnival Road being converted into a tv series?? http://collider.com/guillermo-del-toro-a-killing-on-carnival-row-tv-show/

Saw that on the tracking board - can't wait! :)

  5. Well this is interesting, looks like they are bringing in some new blood for Chronicle 2.

  6. Any one using the blacklist to host your script refute a rating? I got a 4 along with 2 7s.

I bought 2 reviews. Both came in at a 7 (with subcategories rated as high as 9) and both had some food for thought in the notes section. One review however had some accuracy issues (e.g. wrong locations). I complained and they offered a free replacement. Big, big mistake. That review came in at 5, thus sending a shiv into my overall rating.

    3. agkinowerken

And not that it matters on the Blacklist but the script in question was a runner-up at Scriptapalooza a few years back. Lesson learned: think twice before requesting a replacement review.

    4. Pompalompa

yeah it seems to be a real crap shoot. I brought this up because of some of the weakness didn't make sense and conflicted with my two previous higher reviews. They offered a half off review but I won't take it. Thanks again. Love this site.

  7. Any Good Post Apocalyptic Screenplays besides Z for Zach and Book of Eli?

My Brother In Law loved it. Didn't really like playing it because he said it felt like a movie more than a game, but he really enjoyed the story

There are several moments in The Last of Us that are absolutely wrenching. In a lot of ways it is like an interactive movie (I think it's six hours of cut scenes alone) but a damn good movie. It's one that you finish playing and wonder why there isn't more writing like it in screenplays. There should be.

    1. adlocke

he lost a little something he had with me today!

  8. Someone needs to sneak QT some ludes so he can get on with the show

  9. My first ever screenplay just got a 7 on the black list!

That dead-eyed, Opie-looking piece of shit?! ;-) But seriously, an actor known for being unemotive is being cast in the next Star Wars...not exactly encouraging.

  10. A lot of movies coming out tomorrow and already out in theaters. Going for a double feature besides the Wolf... any suggestions.

    1. sbbn

Post your thoughts on Wolf. I'm curious. Orgies and drugs aside. (mostly)

    2. ddollar

      (wolf is awesome)

    3. Pompalompa

Brother got sick, couldn't see anything :(. And i haven't seen wolf yet. just didn't want to have a 3 hour movie included in a double feature.

  11. The hobbit was a mess. A big mess.

Not only are there probably two decent movies hidden in this makeshift trilogy, I'm looking forward to the inevitable cut someone's going to come up with that boils it down to one movie again, something that just more or less tells the story of the novel.

I agree about the scared kid. That, to me, was the whole point. Him reliving it over and over and improving and finding his feet.

Tom Cruise is fine, and with him they secured a huge budget, but I still wish they had stayed with the orginal concept.

      Great script.

    3. Mike

It had me at Emily Blunt.

    4. ThaVillain

Read and loved the script. They've definitely changed some things. I'm hoping it's for the better. Guess I'll have to wait and see the movie.

I agree with the comments saying it should have been a kid though. Most of the soldiers were young in the script if I remember correctly.

  13. Man does Channing Tatum look pretty in the Jupiter Ascending trailer... also the new godzilla trailer was quite disappointing

    1. axalon

I felt the exact opposite. I kept getting a Battlefield Earth vibe from Jupiter Ascending and thought the Godzilla trailer was really good.

    2. Pompalompa

haha. interesting. channing tatum certainly looks like one of those aliens from Battlefield. but that godzilla trailer was such a cock tease

    3. DarkDestroyer

I'm really excited for "Jupiter's Ascending".

  14. Say you have a character who is stuttering. Do you write the dialogue like he's stuttering or do you leave a note and let the actors do their job?

      thanks chando!

    3. twofingeredtypist

Also check out a fish called Wanda. Nothing wrong with using (stutters) above the dialogue either.

King's Speech. Least disruptive method and just a great read anyway.

  15. Just wanted to thank everyone for uploading and arranging the black list scripts... I have a lot of reading to do

    1. Corsairs

Happy to help! Those early Black Lists had some pretty unique scripts. They're definitely worth studying.

    2. storymaps99

When does this year's official Black List come out?

    3. admin

Hit List is usually first Friday of December, Black list - 2nd Friday.

  16. Anyone else see Thor?

  17. It's not that Olympus Has Fallen has the least suspense of any movie i've ever seen. It's that it tries so hard and fails so miserably... Thanks netflix

  18. If I had a dollar for every time I bought a book instead of writing... I'd be able to buy a lot more books

    1. axalon

      Thus continuing the cycle!

  19. finally saw a trailer for Ironside... wheel chair cliches galore

    1. dsjones

Saw it during the FirstLook at a local cinema with Prisoners. Everyone was laughing.

    2. LeftyJones

Yeah, trying to make a guy in a wheelchair a bad ass who punches people and dangles them from rooftops is just... No.

    3. LeftyJones

I really like Blair Underwood too. He deserves a solid series.

  20. Prisoners comes out tomorrow. Should I read the script then see the movie or vice versa?

Watch INCENDIES in the meantime. It's a french movie by the same director and much better than PRISONERS. That being said, PRISONERS is very good just not on the same level as INCENDIES.

    3. CastorTroy16

      Great call, Ira.

    4. storymaps99

Is Incendies the film with that amazing slapping scene? A must-see -- glad my wife got it from Netflix (otherwise I just would have watched The Avengers again. ;))

  21. saw the trailer for the YA novel adapted movie Divergent. Looks even worse than the hunger games.

I'm also extremely biased towards books adapted into films.

      I don't think I've liked a single one except HP8.

      Fingers crossed for ender's

    3. ted

Ah, I see. Well, I liked it. The book wasn't exactly the height of literary genius.

    4. Pompalompa

haha of course not. But i really enjoyed the first one. the next two are even worse. i sped read them after my dog had surgery.

    1. Mike

Well you're about to begin Act 2 in a 10 Act story. Best of luck. I mean it.

    2. Pompalompa

Thanks. How long am I supposed to wait before I start revising. I'm already itching to start back up.

  23. So close to writing Fade To Black for the first time its not even funny... Taking a quick break for indian food to recharge the batteries!
